I have been searching for a job ever since I was 16 (before that I was too young to find work except around my house), and nobody has hired me at all. I'm 19 years old and I still don't have a job. According to my parents, I hand in my applications late (it's due to me still being in school, and I can't drop out because my parents won't let me), and no matter how hard I try to put my applications in either on time or late, nobody will hire me. So, I checked out the want ads from the newspaper, and I've noticed that every job listing requires you to have a driver's license. Do most jobs out there hire people who have drivers licenses?

and I'm not being lazy. I do want one. Also, there's another question...why is it that not many jobs out there know anything at all about aspergers syndrome or any other learning disability (and I'm one of them that has Aspergers syndrome)? I mean, it's not like we're dumb and we can't do anything.

If they are requiring you to have a license they are probably going to have you drive somewhere, deliveries etc. you may want to say clear of this. Go to the mall and walk from store to store submitting applications. They will usually hire high school age for clerks. If you have aspergers you are probably putting your applications in late because you are afraid that you will not be accepted because of your disability. Just go for it . And let them know you have aspbergers so they do not think that you don't like them that it is a part of your disability.

Jobs requiring a drivers' license, generally require some driving. There are many jobs available that don't have that requirement. Stop looking at the want ads, and just go to various places, and fill out applications. Try Costco; they're a good company to work for, and the lowest starting pay is $10.00 per hour. If you want to apply for Costco, go to the address below. Good luck!

Sounds like you don't have a job because you don't really want one. Your blaming school as to why you hand in your apps late when in reality its because your lazy and just don't want to work. If you have no work experience to put on a resume, you need to go for the McJob's out there that will hire anyone so you can start building a resume. The absolute worst thing you could do is drop out of school. Then no one will ever hire you. 1)Finish highschool 2)Get a license 3) get a job 4)Stop blaming your parents and school for your lack of motivation for trying to get a job.

It's just so that you have a way to get to and from work efficiently. It asked that on my job application when I got hired, but my Mom worked there too so I always had a ride to and from, even some of the other teenagers got rides. It doesn't make a difference if you're a teen, just if you're like 30 and can't drive

Employers are just asking for this now. I was at the city of Clovis, and ALL jobs require a driver s license, no matter what city job it is.
The times are changin and not always to your advantage.

Depends on what the job is. If it requires you driving - you need your license. No job I ever applied for required me to have a license.

Only if it's a driving job do they require such. Do you follow up on your applications? By calling the business? Maybe you should have someone else take a look at your application before giving it to the employer you desire. Have someone check for errors. It is always best to get 3 applications per company. One for you incase you flub on the first and the second for your files.
