I found my dream job. I sent my cv to an employment agency and they matched it up with a job vacancy for a company that I would love to work for. The angeny staff said that I have all the right qualifications and said they would pass on my cv to that company asap. The only thing is that i am abroad now, and wont be able to sart until 2 weeks. The employment agency know that and said that the company might wait for me. Should I ring the company DIRECTLY to show them how keen and enthusiastic I am about the job, or wait for them to get in touch with me?

Absolutely not. The employment agency will never work with you again and the employer won't be impressed either I'm afraid, the reason they are using an agency is so that they don't get hassled by prospective applicants.

Unfortunately your best hope is just to wait and see, it might not give you the result you want but it won't disqualify you from applying again in the future either.

(I'm an ex-recruitment consultant so I do have some idea what I'm talking about)

NO! When you go through an employment agency you sign a contract to say you wont contact employers directly - it will look bad on you and the employment agency and the company may find this unprofessional! Ask the agency to contact them for you. Good luck x

Ring your new employer to explain the situation. It shows that you are organised, efficient, and enthusiastic, and that you are keen to build an early relationship with them. You might also want to confirm that they have received your CV, and tell them that you will make further contact when you're back in the country to arrange an initial meeting. Hope this helps.

call them but dont mention the agency . They are not allowed to poach you from the agency if you have already been introduced by them

play it by ear. GO FOR IT. Show enthusiasm.

I guess it wouldn't hurt - but once the agency have been engaged, the complany will still have to do all their dealings through them.
