I've thought about starting a foundation to help break the cycle of poverty in the inner cities.

The vision is a foundation to host academic competions for inner-city youths with cash 'gifts' for the best academic performance on some sort of standardized tests. Would this be considered gifts or earnings by the IRS? Ideally I don't want to ask folks for social security numbers and mess with all the paper work etc.; but staying legal is, of course, top priority.

Tenants rent rooms in a home I own. One is moving out today but hasn't paid up the utilities that are owed. Contract states that all tenants are equally responsible for utilities.

I have a 2yr old niece and thought it would be nice to buy her a share of stock or something for each of her birthdays and christmas' throughout the years. I am a college student so starting a CD for her with a $1000 isn't really an option. I was thinking something I could do for her little by little and have it amount to something by the time she could use it (school/car/whatever). Maybe a stock I could continue to buy shares in each year?
Looking for any ideas...and please provide a website or something for me to view suggested options where possible.

Thanks!

She has 97,000 in credit card bills , our condo is 300,000 to pay off, she has an additional house worth 150,000 that she is paying on. We have tried to pull the credit card payments into the 150,000 house but the bank said the debt to income ratio is too high. we tried to do a quitclaim of our primary residence to put in my name because my credit is in the mid-700's hoping that it would lower our house payment to put more money toward the credit cards but the bank said it would not make a difference because she is still responsible for the debt, so the payments would not change. I'm basically asking is there anyway we could get a loan to put all those cards in for one payment because the interest rates she has our high on the cards. Also the option of selling the 150,000 is out because of family reasons. Also selling our condo is very difficult. Please help me solve this because I don't know what I'm missing. Please I need answers not comments. We both are trying hard to fix this

I was home alone today, because I was sick, and I was awakened by the voice of three people in my apartment. Two were apartment managers and the other was unknown. They didn't leave a note or anything to let me know that they had visited. I wasn't properly dressed to go and talk to them, and I was unable to move because of how sick I was. Is it against any rules or regulations at all for managers to come into your apartment without you knowing or even when you're home sick and asleep?

How can I minimize my taxes? 100K single 21-year-old student Question Details:I'll make between 100K and 200K from a business this year and am a university student living in Ontario. I'm also wondering about the best long-term tax strategy, since I'll be making over 500K for several of the coming years. Can someone answer this in 3 parts?
1. What's the best tax strategy just this year?
2. What's the best strategy for the coming years (e.g. move the business to the Caymen islands, etc.?)
3. What's the best strategy I should take considering where I'm going financially?

A big thanks to whoever can answer this question, and IF YOU’RE AN ACCOUNTANT LEAVE YOUR EMAIL and I may call you about doing taxes if your answer sounds well thought-out!

We have had many problems with our landlord. We live in Florida. We did not do a walk through check list when we moved in. We did a final walkthrough with our landlord, they signed it. Then later sent us a statement for additional charges. Can they do this?

My wife has recently been laid off. Her estimated monthly pension payment at age 65 will be $237, OR she can take a lump sum payment of $5400 now and have no payments coming to her again. She is 31. Is it worth waiting 34 years for such a small monthly payment? Besides the pension she also has a 401K for reitirement and is currently seeking new employment. Thoughts on this?? I'm thinking the best option would be to take the lump sum now.

I am currently a junior at Villanova and I narrowed my choices down to 2 majors but I do not know which way to go. I was considering becoming a CPA, but people tell me the job is very tedious and "boring" with average pay.
Finance on the other hand is harder to find a job but more interesting and you get to travel.
What do you think?
Major in finance and minor in Accounting or vice versa?

I used to think it was a fortune, but not in this day and age!

Rent is through the roof in my area! Throw on top of that renter's insurance, gas, car payment, car insurance, student loans, debts, retirement accounts, investments, savings accounts and some money to have fun. All of a sudden, $20 an hour is not enough.

My boyfriend and I are having a baby in March and would like to be married beofre our baby is born. We both make about 25,000 a year. I was wondering whether we should wait until after Jan. 1st to get married so we don't have to file a joint tax return or because our incomes are relatively low it would not matter. We are going to get married either way just curious if there is any reason we should wait.

I have learned my errors in the past. I am so sick of being a slave to high interest rates, paying minimum payments towards credit cards. My philosophy has changed regards this. What do you the consumer think? Most households have a total of 8 credit cards and they are all maxed out. How can banks justify such things and get families into trouble?
