...items that have already been written or charged off on your credit report? Everytime I pay off one of my "seriously past due" debts I see no change. I know morally I should pay it, but does it do anything for my credit?

I have about $2,500 that I am looking to put into a high interest savings account. In addition to the base amount I am also looking at putting around $800 a month in the account. I am looking to earn the most amount if interest possible bc I am trying to save up for an upcoming move overseas. I have around 8 months or so to save. Anyone have any suggestions? Thank you so much!!

He hasn't told us himself, but I'm expecting it any day now. He's the type of guy who'll wait until the day he plans on closing to tell us. How much lead time is he legally required o give? Am I due any severance? I'm in California by the way, and a salaried employee. It's a small business, in size (maybe 15 employees) not in revenue, and he is incorporated.

I have tried to reach out to him about it on numerous occasions and offered to help. I have even tried to engage HR but with no success in getting the review completed. The company's HR policy on reviews is weak and reviews are constantly late for all employees. They tell us salary increases are retroactive but its more than just about the money, I want feedback on my performance and want to be compensated in a timely manner.

my elderly mother-in-law owns several rental properties. she complains constantly about managing them but absolutely refuses to hire a property manager. us kids help where we can but we all have our own jobs and families and busy lives. we're constantly encouraging her to sell the properties and relax (she has a steady income stream from other sources and money is NOT a problem for her) but she doesn't want to sell them because of "the tax consequences". she plans to leave the properties to us kids when she passes but i know not one of us wants them and would just end up selling them eventually anyway. my question: does it make any difference tax-wise whether the properties are sold now while she's alive or by us after she dies?

A company is not selling the volume it needs to. A car dealership. It's advertising expenses are $200 PNVR (per new vehicle retailed), but the regional average (where the region is doing better with volume than the dealership in question) is $800 PNVR. Obviously, the suggestion is to increase the ad spending, but it also seems like the dealership in question, that is not performing as well, is minimizing it's expenses, which may also be the smart thing. I'm trying to get my head around this. Advertising/business pros, help!!!

Which version of the 1099?
It's a fee that was charged and was then challenged on Constitutional grounds (related to the California State Constitution -- this happenned in California) and the fee was struck down. They are now required to provide refunds.

I received an email from a guy in Nigeria, and I didn't fall for it, since I know about this scam, but it really concerns me that these guys are still on the loose hunting people, because I've read and seen the "supporting papers" that these scammers use to fool their victims.
Please tell me How to identify email scams? And, how can we fight againts these kind of frauds?

They forgot to add nursing, radio/ultrasound/mri tech and whole bunch of other medical professions to this.

Kind of scary that in just 2 years of training a 20 year old could be taking care of your life if you're in the hospital. Yikes.

Hi.
I wondered if anyone could help me out a bit here.
I want to open an Ebay shop, but wondered how hard/easy it actually is.
When I've looked at the idea on Ebay, it says I need a VAT number. How do I get one of those & also at the moment I'm unemployed, would that matter in getting this number. I sell a few things that I've got from clearing out at home in order to get a bit of money behind me so I can buy stuff wholesale & sell it. I already have a wholesaler & have been ordering a few things to get a good supply of stuff before I take the plunge.
Could someone please be kind enough to help me with a little bit of knowledge.
I really want to get out of being unemployed & due to a spinal cord injury I'm stuck at home quite a bit these days.
Thankyou very much in advance.

I want to borrow $250,000 but I can only come up with about $10,000 for a down payment (most banks want $45,000).
The property I want is currently completely leased and generating about $4,000 a month. My credit is pretty decent.

Does anyone know of anyone who would loan me money?

I decided to leave a job after only being there a week. The job was simply not for me. I rang the company the following week to advise them of the fact. A month later, having not received my P45 or payment for the week worked, I emailed them. I promptly got a reply stating that I had broken the rules of contract, but I had only been there a week. Also, a weeks training was wasted on me - I didn't have any training it was a case of showing me the basics and leaving me to it. I immediately sent an email stating that I am entitled to that payment. Again, I received another email stating that the trial period was for a month and that I had broken that agreement. I was also advised to seek legal aid so that perhaps a settlement could be agreed upon, if there is to be one. This person also said that in the meantime he would be working out the cost of training me for a week. Incidentally, I started working for the company on 9th July 2007.

I will be 40 in a few months and have been working in an administrative field for over 20 years. In the last few years I've had aspirations of going back to school to obtain a Funeral Director's license. These two fields are comparitively very different. What results did you have when you made the change? Do you have regrets?
