Is it better to first have the mortgage agreed and then apply for a loan or the other way round??
I am worried that if I apply for a loan it will affect the approval of the mortgage..

Our current pre-approved mortgage is up to £165.000 and the loan we would like to take is £8.500

Say I have, hypothetically, 20 relatives, and they all wanted to give me $12,000 in the same year. I know they would not be taxed on their end because of the yearly gift limit their allowed to give. But would I be taxed on my end, seeing as how I'd suddenly be $240,000 richer?

Wouldn't the government consider that income, and then want a chunk of it?

thanks for any insight you can offer.

I've done all the letter, got a letter back from HSBC saying they are going to refund me £750.

I got this letter on 27th July, posted the acceptance slip back by special delivery, checked online to make sure they received the letter etc.

On the slip it said it can take up to 14 working days to refund the money into my account, this is nearly up.

Did anyone else have to wait the full 14 working days or wait more than etc?

Many thanks in advance x

I went into a certain area because I loved what that field studies, graduated and got a job and everything, and now am seriously considering something else, as it's not what I expected...and I don't like that area anymore now that I went into the study of it, especially because it seems like no one I work with does. Anyone know of anyone else in the same or similar situation? Any advice?

I just found out I owe roughly between $9,000 to $11,000 in state and federal income taxes for 2006 from a failed business venture. I checked this with an accountant, and I definitely owe the taxes. The company already filed it's return and my K-1, showing I had the income, so the IRS theoretically knows about it. I'm 24, have no assets or property, already have $2,000 in credit card debt, and have been unemployed for over seven months. I'm starting a job next month that will pay me $1,900 a month, so I was excited to get back on my feet. But I'm worried that paying off the IRS debt in installments will wreck me and ruin any chances I have to save up.

1) If I set up a payment arrangement, how much should I expect to pay per month, and for how long?
2)I haven't filed my return yet (got extension). How long b4 IRS comes after me?
3)What happens (realistically) if I ignore it? Could I claim Chapter 7 to erase it (making only $30,000 a year)?

I really need realistic advice here. Thanks!

Could anyone tell me how I can do so? For example, any accounts I need to open, and documents I need to fill in.
Also, I would like to know about any capital tax and dividend tax I need to pay.

My mother-in-law accidentally shipped a $300 blender to an eBay buyer BEFORE he sent a payment. He received the item and I was never able to hear from him again.

Stupid mistake we can all agree on that, but what do I do in such case? I live in MN and he lives in CA. He won't respond to any of my emails (both the nice and the not-so-nice ones).

Should I bother the local police about this? Isn't he obligated as a side in this transaction to pay for this item whether or not it was shipped first? Isn't that like in a restaurant, that you get the food then pay?
