I went into a certain area because I loved what that field studies, graduated and got a job and everything, and now am seriously considering something else, as it's not what I expected...and I don't like that area anymore now that I went into the study of it, especially because it seems like no one I work with does. Anyone know of anyone else in the same or similar situation? Any advice?

Oh, and I'm not currently a college student - I already graduated but have been working in this field for a little while and now am starting to really not like it, especially because it makes be hate what I used to enjoy.

It's normal, when you are studying something is different than when you work cause is a different kind of pressure, I have heard that a lot, I think is in most of the cases because there is not enough information before, or even because another other ocupations pay better so you end up doing something else.

Remember that as student your life's responsabilities and perception is different, and as soon as you live depending on how much you earn... that makes us work in different things.

My only advice is that you do what you enjoy the most, is sad to work a whole life and inside of you think or feel that you are not enjoying that.

I am also one of the victims, who studied something else, but now in a totally different situation...which I like...then the one i studied.

One get into these situtations cos of many reasons:

it could be cos of lack of resources which compell someone to do whatever is available; it could be cos of leaving your field of study in the middle and hunting jobs to fulfil your responsibilities; and like others said, you realize it later that you are not fit for that what you were studying and current situation is better than that.

As soon as one become capable of thinking broadly, more avenues open up infront of that person, than he starts compairing one with other to find out the best and thus he changes the tracks...above all...human needs change and stagnancy makes him bored....so its normal...do what makes you feel happy and comfortable....but don't do it very often....otherwise...in the long run....this may create a problem too.

I like the above quote! =)

That's what I'm afraid of. But really I still believe that everything happens for a reason. I know a few people that have had that happen to them...but then if it didn't happen then how would you know what you actually want? If your thinking about this now, then that's the first step to actually finding what you REALLY WANT. Do what makes you happy.

If you don't know what you really want yet, READ THIS BOOK: What Color Is Your Parachute? by Richard N. Bolles. I'm currently reading that and I'm finding out what I actually want to do.

Also here's something to think about: "What would you do for free? "

..... hope that this helps, and maybe what you were looking for. =)
