I've ordered £190 worth of herbs and incense from an online store in america... will I have to pay customs tax when they get delivered here in the UK and if so, how much would this be?

Is there any way of avoiding the charge? Could I ask the shop to write that it is a gift on the front?

Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

Recently I came across a company on the internet that claims to pay surfers money simply for surfing the net ! Does anyone have any experience of this company and if so please what is it all about ? Is it a scam ? Spyware ? How does it work ? HOW MUCH do they pay if they are genuine, etc etc The pros and cons, thank you. I will mention the company written back to front so people don't think this is a scam ( ocolgA ). Thank you for any advice. They don't ask for any money but give you a toolbar that apparently counts the hours you are on the net. It is probably garbage anyway but I am still curious. Thank you again

I got a notice in June that I owed $3,800 for unreported interest earned from stocks. I contacted my tax prepareer and after I got all the necessary forms together, we sent in the paperwork to the IRS. With this paperwork, I should have owed nothing. I checked the box saying I didn't agree with their ammended return and mailed the paperwork to prove it.

Now, I have received another notice from the IRS saying I owe them money. It's like they never received my paperwork from before, but I sent it certified and checked the USPS website and it has been delivered.

I plan on calling my tax preparation person tomorrow, but in the meantime, does anyone know what could be going on?

I am doing some small business, which is strictly wholesale. In Dec2006, I sold out my product to my customers and invoiced them in Dec 2006. But I receive actual payment some in last December and the balance in January.
Also the invoices I received from my supplier were all dated in Oct2006. I paid my supplier, some in December and the balance in Jan too.
If my fiscal date ends on Dec31,2006, for money receivable and payable after Dec31,2006, should I roll the payment received from my customer and payment I made to my supplier after Dec31,2006 into fiscal year 2007 or count this money in fiscal year 2006?

Thanks for answering.

How would I go about getting my credit score up? Ten years ago I used Consumers Credit Counseling to help pay off my credit card debit. It was HIGH. I paid it off in 2 years. I still have ramifications from that period in my life, even though I paid it off. I didn't file bankrupty ,as a car dealer told meI would have been better off doing. How long can this haunt me.? I have 3 credit cards all with below 700$ limits and one car loan. I am never late and if I use the credit card I pay it off when the bill arrives, but still the past haunts me. HELP!!!

I currently have family coverage health insurance through my employer that takes care of me, my spouse, and my infant son. It is about $160/month and has excellent benefits. Now my husband is eligible to buy health insurance through his employer. He could either get single coverage for $25/week for a plan with a $250 deductible, or $21/week for a plan with a $750 deductible. Or he could get family coverage at either $61/week for the lower deductible or $50/week for the higher deductible. The office visit copay is slightly higher with the higher deductible plan. Or he can decline coverage altogether. There is NO WAY I will be canceling our family coverage through my employer. So, is it worth for my spouse to buy dual coverage through his employer? If so, what considerations should we make when deciding to purchase either single or family, and deciding whether to do the lower or higher deductible?

If you try to call any company or service provider in USA they keep you on hold for a minumum of 20 minutes. Still, you might not get the solution to your queiry. They pass on the call to minimum 3 other people before giving you an answer. Why??

We (family of 3) have decided to settle in US after being here for 3 years. Before coming here, I bought a flat, took home loan for 600,000 Rs. Parents live in the flat, so selling it is out of question. I have to keep paying off 6000 Rs. per month for next 20 or more years. I have @ 10K $ saved till now and have a target to save 20K $/year hereon. 'Personal finance mantra' says (recently started reading on PF), first pay off debt, then start saving. Should I try to pay off the loan by balloon payment, as much as I could, since its not helping me for tax any more? Or should I save money, invest it in US?

I work in the kitchen design industry. I have been in this job for about 3 years. I get phoned, out of the blue, by another kitchen company to ask if I would be interested in a job. This new job would nearly double my wages. The only thing is the job I am in just now is a small family run business with a very close nit staff. I work directly beside my bosses and have built up a great relationship with them, they have treated me like family. What is the best way to approach this? Do i just tell them that i have been offered a new job that pays more or do i tell them it is with another kitchen firm? The money is just too good to turn down. Do I have to put what they think about me out of my mind and just do it? or do I play this another way?

why do petential employers frustrate jobseekers with experience, it is simply impossible to gain experience when no one wants to give you the opportunity to start from somewhere. I tried to apply for trainee accountant post but wat suprised when i understood that i have to have 2 yrs experience to apply, who on earth has that kind of experience and is still a trainee, sounds stupid, any ideas on why this is will be highy appreciated.

I was on medication, but thought i would be ok. i informed the Riad, in Morrocco, but the company in england say, that i would still have to pay for the holiday. The balance was upon arrival, i only paid a deposit online. The fact that they have proberly my credit card details, can they just go a head and take the balance. I did not take out insurance, but was going to do it the night before i would have flown out. thankyou.

My Boss is a very A-type person who is keen to get ahead. However, he's not a great mamger - he raises his voice to silence me when I am trying to explain a point. When he delegates something to me with a deadline I work heard to do a good job and meet it - and often he doesn't even bother looking at it or if he does he gives no feedback. I've seen him take credit for other peoples work and I suspect he does it to me. I don't want to quit or make a scene as I'm in a company I really want to build a career in. Any ideas for managing this guy?

My siblings are trying to figure out a way to cover funeral cost for people in our family who don't have financial means but we don't know who to talk to. Seems like an insurance company or a funeral services would have a plan for this. We have had to take up donations at the funerals to help with this expense. We would like to avoid that in the future. We will pay for it but something that we could be on a 'payment plan' before anything happens - like insurance. Something that would include cover service, plot, etc for multiple family members.

Is there anything like this available or can something be set up. I don't understand why no one has come up with this. It would be a money making proposition (I'd like to know negatives of an 'offering' like this - something that would truely be helpfu to consumers) -

We would pay as a family but it's hard when money issues intrude on an already hard time for a family. So why not pay for it over time.

How much is it?
I got my first paycheck last Friday and they took out 7.2%.

My parents don't know how much it is.
I am single, 18 years old.

Isn't 7.2% a bit too much? Is that federel/state?

I also already tried searching but couldn't really understand anything.

Thanks

It seems there are two mindsets out there. The logical/technology enabled mind and the business mind. I have just written a report that was deemed too technical even though I had dumbed it down for the business mind to understand.
Not being rude here. When I mean dumbed down, I mean I have tried to put it in simple abstract high level descriptions.

But what is the best way to understand how to communicate to the business mind. What is the best way to develop this skill
