My Boss is a very A-type person who is keen to get ahead. However, he's not a great mamger - he raises his voice to silence me when I am trying to explain a point. When he delegates something to me with a deadline I work heard to do a good job and meet it - and often he doesn't even bother looking at it or if he does he gives no feedback. I've seen him take credit for other peoples work and I suspect he does it to me. I don't want to quit or make a scene as I'm in a company I really want to build a career in. Any ideas for managing this guy?

hey ,
why u r so afraid of ur boss , becauz u will find these kind of people every where, whrever u go , see its upto u what u want to do , but i can suggest you somethings which can help u , first thing be confident whn ever u r talking to ur boss and dont give him any chance to shout on u , and if he shouts on u unnecessarily, thn i think u need to think again abt ur decesion of not leaving this job , and why cant u get a better job ? , believe in urself u can get a better job , wht u can do is try to find a better job whnever u have ur w/o go for interviews or ask for help from ur friends , ur relatives to find a better job for u if u cant go for interviews on regular basis , i am sure u will get a better job and u just need to remind ur self that u have everything and u can get a better job , and one thing more, always remeber tht people only Pressurizes those who get under them , so be brave and firm and whn ever ur boss shouts on u unnecessarily tell him clearly tht u r not his private property and he has no right to shout on u unnecessarily ...ok
take care and good luck.

It sounds to me like you are not in a company that you CAN build a career in with a guy like this over you. Consider going elsewhere. Chances are it will be better in a new company and without a jerk like that in your way, you may move up much faster and easier. This guy will roadblock your every attempt and make working there a misery. Know when to move on for your own good.

Keep a low profile for now....don't be the one to rock the boat. If it is happening to everyone, it will come to light....though you do not want to be the one to make that happen. Instead of trying to "argue a point" with him or allowing him to belittle you for any reason. Let him know that you are welcome to any feedback good or bad to improve your performance according to his expectations. Let him know that you are on his team to insure that he, the team and the company are a success. Hopefully he will leave you alone.
