We both have pretty good credit, I've never had a late payment but have quite a bit of debt. My husband doesn't have nearly the debt I do but had some late payments about 3-4 years ago and has since paid those accounts off. So together we have fair/good credit but want to get better credit. What are some things we can do in the next 6-12 months that will help? We are trying to raise our credit scores because we want to refinance our home at a good rate. So, what's some good, sensible advice to raising credit scores?

I have the Citibank Platinum Dividend (not the Student version) card with a 18.99% interest. I think it is ridiculous to have a 18.99% APR. I have a great credit history although it is rather short (I am 21/student and started this card at age 18).

I have never been late and I always pay in full so it never really mattered to me. But I feel, after proving myself a responsible credit user for 3yrs, they should cut me some slack. My credit limit goes up every few months (almost $20,000 now) but the APR never goes down!

I called about it and they said there is nothing they can do now but call again in 2 weeks. This is the only request I've made in 3yrs. Should I just dump Citibank and go with another bank? I'm afraid my credit score would go down since this is my longest-running card.

Advice?

When someone looks into your social security number, rather it be as a credit check or background check, does it show your date of birth? What all does it show?

I'm from a small town in TX. I've tried to get help with social services, but have been denied. My family earns too much on paper. We have a gross monthly income of $2500, but because my husband owes monthly child support of $1200, and our rent and utilities and car payment add up to $1186. We are left with about $14 for food, laundry, and things we need like soap, etc. Everywhere I go for help, turns me away! My husband's child support is for four children. They all live in New York state. We are a family of four, and have tried to get his child support orders modified, but our attempts only made his child support increase. We are really in need of help. Suggestions are greatly appreciated. Thanks a million for your advice.

My previous insurance company owed me a refund check from February. After over 30 days I called to follow up. They stated that the check was issued on April 24th. I told them in May that I had not received the check so they agreed to put a stop payment on it and would reissue the check. I called to follow up in June, and again in July and they kept telling me to give them more time to process the stop payment order and to reissue the check. Finally, it is now August and I've been following up every 30 days. Today they told me that the original check was cashed and a new checked was not reissued. They will not tell me where it was cashed or on what date, but I know for sure that it was not me. I think they should reissue a check since I clearly informed them that I HAD NOT received the check. The customer service supervisor would only argue with me that since I verified my address, that they were not responsible. How do I fight this? UHC Direct Bill has been rude and uncooperative.

Ok here is a company I brought into to make money. But instead there CFO Watson is spending there money like water 5 vacations this year so far and the year in not over! Lawyer fees to fight the widow of the original owner , and developer of the Airtrax Co. When Pete Amico past away the broad hired this Watson guy to run the place but instead of concentrading on sales and the CSA he's only spending money like water. I myself as a stock holder feel feel that it's disgraceful. This Company has a great product of the future and to have someone like Watson running the business is foolish. Get someone in there that can make this Co. a star like Pete Amico wanted it to be. And leave his widow alone.

With the US and ALL foreign indices down and in the red why is the Madrid Stock Exchange the only market in the world in the green? They have been green since our downturn began.Maybe we should all invest there?

With every stock exchange in the world in the red would'nt it be better to explain this deep downturn on external forces as opposed to internal (US domestic stats)? I mean- there is not one foreign stock exchange that has not merged, or is about to merge, with larger exchanges. Example: NASDAQ/OMX, NYSE/EURONEXT and others. With US, Canada and Mexican markets so intertwined-how could you not expect their financial woprlds NOT TO EFFECT OUR HOLDINGS?

I have a baby due next month, at the moment I'm not working that many hours, and i still have some bills to pay, I don't have a lot of baby things yet, I just have enough to buy the NEEDS of my family and maybe go out once every two weeks (movies, mall). I really would like to take a loan out to buy some stuff before my baby is born and maybe use some to pay some bills, so i won't have to worry while i'm on maternity leave (with no pay I might add) but don't really know if it's worth it. can someone explain it.

I am 37 and my bio-father whom I've only known for 9 years has decided to say to me " it's just too late to be father and son". I lost my mother in 99 to cancer and 1 year before, she introduced me to him. I know I need to prove paternity. But do I have any legal ground after all these years? He never gave his right up to me and never tried to find me, eventhough I was 10 minutes away most of my life.

I answered an ad on craigslist.com for working from home. I paid a $10 training and materials fee, and recieved a training manual. Turns out you just turn around and do the same thing! I'm supposed to post an ad on craigslist, and those who respond pay the $10 fee to me!!! And I send the same info sent to me! Is this a scam? Is this ILLEGAL? I'm not a highly moral person, I could stand to make $10 off a couple of people, and I'm sure in turn they could stand to make some money off a few more people. But I don't want to commit fraud. Is this illegal? Does it work? DOes anyone else do it?? Thanks.

I have no idea how this works or what's best. The thing is my husband and I both work and we earn pretty ok money.. he says I should tell the payroll dept i want to claim our baby as dependent so they wont take so much money put of my mo. check. Can I do that? what are the pros and the cons? I always thought it didnt matter cause then on income tax were gonna recieve less...but he says we need it the money more throughout the year? What is better? What gives me more money??? thanks.

I am 27 years old and currently make $50-55k. I have a college degree, am in sales, and obviously expect to make quite a bit more money in the future than I do now. My wife contributes to a teacher pension fund, which is nice for her (and me too). My company has a Simple IRA (instead of 401k) that matches dollar for dollar up to 3% of my income. Right now I am only saving the 3% and need to improve that. I'd appreciate any expert advice from somebody who knows about investing. I always hear that the Roth IRA is the way to go because you have already paid the tax...but I feel I may net more money paying the tax as I withdraw in retirement. Thanks for any help!
