My husband and I are looking to buy a house and have identified two we like, both with the same asking price of 319K however one is tax assessed at 313K and the other at 392K. Would the property with the higher tax assessment be a better investment in the long run?

I live in Colorado and just bought a piece of property on time from the owner.I paid a nice down payment but they put my wife's name on it by accident and filed it with the county.I told them not to put her name on it but they did a quick claim deed on it where she donated her interest to me when we bought it.the very same day,but her name was recorded as buying it with me. She has creditors looking for her and she owes a lot of money .My question is with me paying on the property and it only being in my name with her transferring her interest in the property to me..can anyone lein it although the land owner still actually owns the land and uses that ownership as collateral? Any info that you can provide I would appreciate it.Please if you don't know and you are guessing please let someone answer it that knows..Thanks in advance.

i always thought that if you had a deposit in by noon on a business day that your deposit would go in for that same day. my bank is sometimes taking 4 days to clear a deposit even when it is cash.

I got a letter today that the IRS didn't get a return from me in 2001 and I now owe over $6,000 in penalties and interest from over 6 years ago.

I have filed every year since and because I have a child, have gotten refunds each year too. My question is how can they do this? Wouldn't a missing refund be caught in the 6 intervening years? And why am I being charges thousands for interest and penalties even though this is the first notice I've gotten about this?

Ugh......help please.

I have overdraft fees on my bank account because a company charged fees to my account that I didn't want. I canceled the order with the company, and my money was refunded. But the bank still charged me overdraft fees. I was told that my account will be turned over to Collections. I was just starting to get my credit together. I'm worried that this will impact my credit score and credit report.

I sold an authentic LV purse on ebay. I clearly stated it was USED in the listing. The chick wants a full refund because she claims it shows used signs...which is not wierd since I listed it as USED. She filed a dispute with ebay before I even got back to her and now I have a negative amount in my paypal! if she wins this dispute, how the hell will she get her money when my paypal account had a balance of 0?

I have a truly amazing boyfriend. He's literally everything I could hope for: smart (has his MBA), compassionate, supportive, generous, and stable. I'm completely mortified by this, but when I was younger, I was irresponsible with my finances and my credit rating went down as a result. I am working to clean things up, but I know that these things take time. He owns his own house and is very fiscally responsible. I have a feeling that this relationship is going to end up serious (i.e. moving in together/getting engaged). We've never discussed this topic and honestly, I don't want to bring it up! How do I craft an appropriate response when the time comes? I have everything else in my life together and have always managed things on my own...how do I deal with this? I am so scared that this could be a dealbreaker... He adores me and I know that I bring so much to relationship, and this is something that I am working so hard to rectify.

I asked a question earlier, but I'm still unsure as to which I should choose. Right now I'm 25, single and have a savings account. I'm looking into an IRA for retirement...thinking long term here(30+ years). My Credit Union offers both Traditional/Roth IRAs, and Tradtional/Roth CDs. I've read about the advantages and disadvantages to both types of IRAs but I'm nervous about picking the right one for my needs and the future. The pre-taxed Roth seems great, but what if I get married and we make over $160k?(With my current career path it may be possible) and I'll likely be in a lower tax bracket upon retirement. Any suggestions?

The British pound is currently almost twice as much as the US dollar. Given this I am puzzled to see that prices of general retails items in UK are almost twice as expensive as in the US.

A pair of say GAP jeans will cost 40 pounds in UK and about 40 dollars in the US. One would expect that in UK it would cost about 20 pounds.

Why such a difference? Is the cost of doing business in UK really so high that by the time the goods reach retail stores in UK their prices are stupendously high? Is there an arbitrage opportunity there?

Ok, so I recieved money orders for a company that I was suppose to cash and send them the money. Stupid me, I did, but I didn't cash in my bank account, because I don't have one, I cashed at a check cashing place. Well now I'm getting calls from them telling me it was fake and that they are going to file a police report and they want their money. I don't have the money anymore, otherwise I would give it to them. I had no idea that this was a scam...I don't know what could happen to me? Could I go to jail? Or what? It's my understanding that these check cashing places are suppose to call and verify everything before they cash it...if they had done this in the first place, all this could have been avoided. And please don't berate me for being stupid and doing this, I'm doing a pretty good job of that myself. Call it being naive. Any Lawyers out there that can tell me what can happen?
