If you don't have a job, why do you need a cell phone? Use the landline. People can actually survive without cell phones.

If your credit isn't good, then you may get turned down for a service contract but if that's the case, they will usually ask you to pay a deposit and then they will give you the service contract. So if you have the money to pay the deposit, and you pay the bills, you'll get your deposit back at the end. If your credit history is good, you'll probably get a approved. I think T-Mobile is the easier carrier to get approval from, plus they have some low cost plans with lots of minutes. And you can get a very cool cell phone for FREE with a new T-Mobile plan. You can compare the different carrier plans and phones at the following website. They work with all the major carriers and phones. If you can't get approved for a contract, then you can get a pay as you go phone that has no contract or credit checks. The following website also carriers those plans. Just click on the link below.

Typically the cell phone service contracts are based off of your credit report and not your current employment. If you have good credit history in your credit report you should be fine. If you have bad credit history and new job, you may have a problem. I know many people who dont have a job or just started one that have contractual cell phone service, but they also have good credit. I also know many people who have held the same job for many years that have negative credit and had to put down a deposit to purchase the contract. It all depends on credit history

The only service you can get is prepaid. No credit checks and no contract so you don't have to be "working" to have a prepaid phone.
With the regular monthly service contract services you must be working in a stable job longer than a week.

Yes, it is possible. I am not employed, but my husband is. A month ago, I went to Sprint to get on a family plan contract and was approved for a plan for up to 5 phones. I was able to qualify for the contract even though I am unemployed.
I do know, that they check your credit report, because I saw that there was an inquiry from Sprint on my credit report.
