I have overdraft fees on my bank account because a company charged fees to my account that I didn't want. I canceled the order with the company, and my money was refunded. But the bank still charged me overdraft fees. I was told that my account will be turned over to Collections. I was just starting to get my credit together. I'm worried that this will impact my credit score and credit report.

B dancer222 I know it's not the bank's fault. I hadn't used that account for quite a while, so it's not my fault either...I didn't want the merchandise at all. After I'll end up paying the overdraft fee anyways. It was an error that costed me big money.

Insensitively Honest, I hate to say it but it does appear as everyone is only interested in money. And yes that company did get me on a free trial basis, that's where I messed up at. I plan on opting out of all telemarketing calls from now on. I had also bought something off of TV. I ordered 2 girdles, and the lady processed my order for like 10 girdles. When I tried to send them back..they gave me a big break on the price. I wont' do any more business like that.

Banks do this , when they started all of these overdraft fee's they done it with intention on making money from this , and it has become a major source of income for banks by imposing these fee's banks are not there for you to store a little bit of cash , unless you have a large sum they can use for investments they really do not care , free checking was designed for those who can not manage money , it was done with the plan of increasing the number of overdrafts to increase the income of the bank , due to negligent acts of those who have poor control over their money , why do you think they do not check your credit to open an account , and yes ordering from television , or over the net is considered negligent , they have always said to never give your info , over the phone ,on the net , companies that do this are aimed at the same group targeted by banks as careless spenders , they got you , they may waive it this time but they will not keep doing it , banks want to make your money theirs , these on line , or mail order companies want your money , and if they can get penalties too that is even better , they care nothing about you , except how much of your money they can take from you .

I work for a bank and would pay the overdraft fees. Paying $15-20 in overdraft is better than being put on check systems. It's a pain in the *** to open accounts at other banks once you are in the system.

It's not the bank's fault. Your account was overdrafted. Pay the fee. You could try getting the company that billed you to reimburse you.

But I wouldn't count on that happening.
