I answered an ad on craigslist.com for working from home. I paid a $10 training and materials fee, and recieved a training manual. Turns out you just turn around and do the same thing! I'm supposed to post an ad on craigslist, and those who respond pay the $10 fee to me!!! And I send the same info sent to me! Is this a scam? Is this ILLEGAL? I'm not a highly moral person, I could stand to make $10 off a couple of people, and I'm sure in turn they could stand to make some money off a few more people. But I don't want to commit fraud. Is this illegal? Does it work? DOes anyone else do it?? Thanks.

My personal advice is that it just isn't worth it. You already lost $10 so just let it go, don't risk anymore. You can lose more money, or make others lose money. Essentially, it's stealing. I don't know if it's illegal, but if it is, somebody might call you out on it.

Sure sounds like a scam to me. There are many good companies out there who hire people for home-based work, and they don't charge them any fees. I work for PhoneLogix, and before that for Alpine Access, neither of which asked me for a dime to get a job there. I found a web site with a list of good companies to work for, with more companies being added all the time. You don't have to pay for a job.

Yes, it is a scam! Not sure how the court system sees it specifically in your area. There was a piece on Nightline, or dateline, about setups like this where no one is actually running a business, they are just selling an "idea" to make money.

You can work from home, start up costs can be as little as $20 or as high as $300 depending on serious you are to start. Check out my website, and send me a message. I can call you/email you and we can talk about more details. No pressure, but it has become my passion to work for this company and I am making good money! Enjoy your day!

It is illegal. It is a pyramid scheme, which is considered a form of gambling by the U.S. postal authorities (while some individuals may make money, the average person cannot make a profit, because there is as much money been spent to get into this business as being paid to those who are in).

A sucker is born every day.

I am sure you are walking a very fine line when placing the ads.

NEVER SEND MONEY!

Just be happy it was only $10. I have heard of cases where people send thousands of dollars and get "nothing" in return.

Scam.
Pure and simple scam.
It you contacted 100 people a week and 10% actually sent you 10.00 it would not even pay your rent! You could work for minimum wage and do better.

It's probably not illegal as long as you don't promise something you don't deliver. But it's definitely a scam.
