If I have only one job and no one can claim me as a dependant, I am single, Head of house hold, and have one dependant,

how may allowance do I put on the w-4

You probably should claim 2, and claim head of household on the W-4 form. But to be sure, I have attached a link to a paycheck calculator website, www.paycheckcity.com, that will help you figure out how much should be taken from your paycheck.

Do you mean that you have a dependent child, or other person living with you who is your dependent? That's how I'm reading your question.

On your W-4 you could claim one on line A, B, D and E, plus possibly more on lines F and G depending on your dependent. That would give you 4, or more if you have any entry on lines F or G.

If you are referring to yourself when you say "one dependent", then you are NOT head of household, and don't have a dependent, just one exemption for yourself, so would be wise to just claim one on your W-4.

I looked back at your other questions to try to figure out what your situation is, but still am not sure. If you do have a dependent child living with you whom you will be able to claim as a dependent, forgive my questioning - a lot of people don't understand head of household so I don't want to mislead you.
