on the w-4 is it okay to claim my self, Single, head of house hold, and one dependant? or does claiming my self exempt me from of the others?

no, you would have to claim either head of household or single. If you have a dependent and meet the head of household requirements there would be no reason not to claim head of household on the W-4, and the number of exemptions would be 2 (more if you had more than 1 dependent).

You are not single and head of household at the same time. You have to pick one.

If you are going to file your taxes as head of household, put that on your W-4. If you have one dependent, it is safe to claim two allowances on your W-4, one for yourself and one for your dependent.

If you're head of household you still will get an exemption for yourself on your tax return, so on your W-4 if you have yourself and one dependent you would claim allowances for both of you, plus show head of household if you qualify.
