Hello all, I tried looking at other questions related to mine, but they all seem to deal with foreign tax issues, so I was wondering if anyone knew why, in the U.S., taxes on a second job are much higher and what the tax rate is? I just took on a second job and noticed that the taxes taken out were ridiculously high, but it seems to be something that happens. Does anybody know why and what the rate is on a second job? I make around $7,200/year on my first job, and close to $2,000/month on my second job. I'm a college student, by the way.

Is there a way to report tax fraud to the irs without someone finding out it was me? A friend of mine recently married an illegal alien who worked under someone else's social security number but did no claim the income earned on taxes and ended up getting a huge refund- which they were not entitled to.

years ago from medical disability i defaulted on a credit card. well i paid it off completely after being threatened with a judgement and now i get my report and see that the judgement is there and i was never told it was REAL. i have since paid the debt in full 100% and this is still on my report? how do i get this off? i was never told any real files were done or anything, just threatened by the creditor...any ideas?

So, since I live in a 1 bedroom apartment, I do not have a room or office that I can exclusively use for my business. I do however, have a section of the apartment that I exclusively use. Does this count?

I am planning on meeting with a CPA to discuss, but wanted some knowledgable guidance before going in? I'm sure there is something that protects someone like me in the tax code...or maybe not. If so, maybe it's worth it to get into a 2 br apartment. Buying is not an option for me right now. So please, keep your responses to the apartment living situation.

Also, is the SUV tax break as sweet as it sounds. For a 40K Volvo XC-90, I'm calcuating 28,000 in write-offs the first year or more (though I guess it depends on usage and this is one of the reason where my home office write off comes in). And believe me, I own my own biz and derive 60% of my income from it.

I've heard of a pair of ETF's that work in reverse when the markets go down (SDS for S&P 500 and QID for NASDAQ). Are these safe invesments to hedge oneself during a market downturn?

adjustor wrote a summary for 10,000 less sales tax and deductable of 2000 gave a check for 5000 a promise of another check for 3000 when they recieved the bid. we found some one to do it cheaper. after sending in bid for lesser amount we could not get any part of the 3000 depreciation plus now we have to pay cash for the deductable .

few years ago, my fella fell off ladders and smashed all his bones in his foot. he has never been able to walk properly again. his boss accepted negigence snd compensation was paid out recently. but during this time, he was on incapacity benefits and as soon as his claim money came through his solicitor took out a huge payment to repay every penny back to the dss which was quite a few grand. is this right or was he ripped off? surely the dss doesnt expect every single peny back he recieved via benefits? anyone out there know anything? we live in uk. he had to repay nearly 5 years of £100 per week. im ery confused and feel it should be investgated about. my fella believes every word his lawyer says but i smell something fishy

When I mean is that I don't anyone should ever live paycheck to paycheck or ever be in such a tight financial spot, no matter what. The thought of it just makes me shake my head in sadness and pity for anyone is such a situation.


No one should ever have need a loan, unless it's for a big purchase like a car or a house. Don't you agree?
