Somehow, I think that if you actually NEEDED the clothes, your Mom would be more then willing to buy them for you.

What I see happening here is the beginning of some really poor spending habits. It starts out slow, then blooms into some serious debt.

But, you do want some new clothes for school. Good. I support that.

Here's what you need to do. It will impress your Mom, and get you well on the way to a secure financial future.

1. Drop the "requirement" for $462 worth of clothes. No one really believes that it is a true need.
2. Of the $462 worth of clothes that you want, select a few items that would make the most difference. Keep the amount you need below $100, preferably, below $50.
3. Approach your Mom, your neighbors, your aunts/uncles, etc... Ask for jobs that will pay some money. Get $10 for washing a car, $20 for mowing a lawn, etc...

When you have earned enough to pay for the clothes that you have selected, and a few dollars more, do these two things.
First, ask your Mom or Dad to drive you to their bank so that you can open up an account. Put the money you earned over and above in the account. (Ex. if you needed $50 but earned $75, put the extra $25 in the bank.)
Second, ask your Mom to drive you to the store so that you can buy your own special clothes for school.

Now, I can't guarantee anything, but most parents are very proud and impressed when their children do things in a mature and responsible manner. I would not be surprised if you Mom decided to pay for some of your clothes herself. IF she does, put the rest of the money in the bank right away.

By doing that, you have learned two very valuable lessons. One is that money costs. You parents do not get money for doing nothing, they work for it. How many hours do you think your parents have to be at work for that $462?
Second, you have learned that every time you earn some money, there are rewards for putting some of it away, right away. That money in the bank will earn interest, and grow over time. If you continue to put money in, $5 or $10 at a time, when you are 25 you will have enough to make a down payment on a house, or buy a new car without having to finance it.

Best of luck.

First you absolutely do not NEED $462 worth of back to school clothes. You WANT those new clothes. Since you don't have $462, you can not afford those new clothes.

Your mother is right now to give you the money. It's a good time for you to learn the difference between WANT and NEED.

Um I agree with b-dancer. 462 is ridiculous for school clothes. What are you going to do with those clothes after 2 months when they go out of style?

Maybe try to reason with mom about a SMALLER amount of money.

If my kid asked me for $500, i'd laugh. And then turn and walk away.

The best way to overcome this problem is to eliminate the desire for $462 of clothes, not to fulfill it.

You have much to learn, grasshopper.

Cleaning, kitchenwork, packing, running errands, gardening, babysitting, newspaper delivery are some of the jobs available. These jobs will be posted in local newspapers and billboards. Many businesses hesitate to employ minors because of the legal restrictions on working hours and documentation required.
A better option is to work from home on your computer - write articles, sell on eBay, make a website, take surveys. In some cases, you may have to set up an account in your parents or guardians name, and ask them to pay you, after they get the money for your work. Have you tried impressing upon her that your self-esteem may be harmed by having to wear last-year's clothes?

At age 11, it's not easy to find work, and working for neighbors is risky because there are a few weirdos out there, and if you run into one of them, they might take advantage of you. If you do accept work from a neighbor, make sure it's outdoor work and never go into their house unless it's your own grandmonther, and a trustworthy one at that!
