adjustor wrote a summary for 10,000 less sales tax and deductable of 2000 gave a check for 5000 a promise of another check for 3000 when they recieved the bid. we found some one to do it cheaper. after sending in bid for lesser amount we could not get any part of the 3000 depreciation plus now we have to pay cash for the deductable .

An insurance policy is a contract of indemnity. That means it owes you for the actual cost to repair or replace. If you found someone to do it cheaper, then the insurance company owes you based on the actual cost.
