Here's the deal, I just got a new job at a big(ger) law firm. The place I used to work at, I was constantly busy, dealing with clients, answering phones, drafting letters/pleadings/etc. just always busy. I quit that job 1)because of pay and 2)overworked.I finally got a wonderful job with a big(ger) firm than where I worked (6 attorneys,8 paralegals,1 secretary,1 'go-fer' and 1 IT guy(he only comes in once a month). When I came in for the interview, they asked me back for a second interview and then hired me on the spot.I really enjoy working here, and I like everybody(and I think they all like me),however, some days I'm here and I have nothing to do.I try to find things to do(clean my work space, file things, help out with making copies, sending the mail out, etc.)but I usually end up sitting and websurfing within 3 hours.I feel like a lazy employee and believe me,I'm not. So,what do you guys think?Could they fire me?Its not my fault,& when I have work,I get it done quickly & correctly.

I applied for a federal tax identification number for the stuff i sell on ebay; however i dont sell that many things, and am now concerned that maybe i shouldn't have done it. How do i cancel it? If i don't sell anymore do i still need to tell my tax person that i have an id number at the end of the year? Do i also need a state number if i decide to keep going? Thanks!

We'd hoped things would level off, but it's clear now that things are likely going down for a while. We're in the Hudson Valley, NY. Our bad reason for buying - hoping to sell in 4-5 years at enough profit to buy into a cohousing (community living) project. Seem it would've been better if we rented, saved the extra few thousand a year, then bought into the cohousing. How can we still save an extra $20-$40k over 4-5 years? Would like one of us to work less as well - it takes both of us working full time to cover it all. Can we get out of this house?

The owners of the doublewide, rent a lot from us. We have sent them letters, had the sheriff serve them with eviction notices and they still have not made a move to leave. We are in the state of Georgia if that helps with any legal issues.

Are they REALLY disciplined in how they spend their money verses someone who is in debt? Is this just B.S. as to a reason of why they are rich and some people are not. I would say Income has a lot to do with it, and spending habits have very little to do with it. I mean they still have what it is that they want to buy when they want to buy it. Can you explain that then if it's all about good spending habits?

this place Pleasant VAlley Modular has HUGE BATHROOMS AND GORGEOUS kitchens go ahead & even check out their website.but they cost more than a stick build that has about 1000 more sq feet. THe one builder was going to do a stick build at 130 a sq ft and we're finding out the modular will be 158 per sq ft does that make sense? we tried asking why & the modular builder said its because it includes more (all appliances including wash & dryer) & the nicer bath & kitchen. is he ripping up off or what? please go on the site & look under kitchens & baths so you know what these things are...theyre not just regular modulars, they come w/ full superior wall system basments and walk up attics but still my parents are very controlling even though im married & have 2 kids, my mom gets upset, hangs up on me because she thinks were getting ripped off & were not doing what she woul do! we're not getting along but these houses r really nice!!HELP need people w/ experience in building or buying to answer

In June I went on an interview. They said i'll be getting the job by July 2. Then they said it is going to be delayed until July 9. Then they said it will be delayed for another 2 weeks. Every time I call them, they keep saying they will give me the answer the next day. Now they are completely ignoring my calls.

The excuse they keep giving as to the reason I am not getting the job: because of background checks to their own company by the company that I am supposed to be working with.

Whenever I ask them, is the job still there? Am I definitely getting the job? They say, yes, the job is definitely there. I said, am I going to get it before September when my school starts, and they say yes. But they keep delaying it, that was okay. But now they completely ignore my calls. Because I call them, they don't pick up, but I call from a different phone and they they pick up.

Can I sue them for loss of income? Thanks.

I've had a Simple IRA for 5 years and I need to get the funds. I know that there will be a 10% penalty for early withdrawal and that I also need to pay federal tax on it as income. My question is what percentage do I need to have withheld? I know they automaticly take 10% unless you specify more. My tax bracket is 25%- is that what I should put on the distribution request? I don't want to owe a ton at tax time or worry about underpayment penalties...

My husband and I moved into a town home last Sept. and got our place inspected by an inspector last July. How we discovered this was we had a leak in our kitchen and right above it is the bathroom so we knew it coming from the show from the bathroom. We had a plummer come out to look at the problem and he cut the cieling in the kitchen and their was mold pretty much all over. We called our insector who inspect the home before we got the town home and he said to call our home insurance company and he had nothing to do with it. The plummer said the home insurance does not cover the mold because it was there before we purchase the town home. Who should we go after the home inspector? The people who sold us the town home? Any suggestions would help.

Basically, I am wondering the best way to pay off credit card debt. If I borrowed against some property that I have a clear title to would I be doing myself a favor by going to the bank for a loan or should I just pay the credit card companies more per month to bring down the debt? I am currently paying 4.99% on one card and 2.99% on another card.

I have had 2 interviews already and have 2 more to go. I need a job right now. Because I am in need of a position fast I am tempted to take the first job offer, whichever it may be. I feel very confident I have a good chance of getting one of the positions I have interviewed for but one of the upcoming would be good too. The last of the 4 is low paying. I really don't want to accept the low paying position because I am desperate for something now and a few days later get a call from one of the others offering a job. What is a appropriate amount of time to leave before accepting. I don't want to wait too long hoping on the others to call.....

I have two of those rip off credit cards, First Premier and Applied Bank, I paid them off in full, will it hurt my credit to close both accounts now? They are the only cards I currently have, as I am trying to establish some kind of history. However they are rip offs and charge me just to have an open account with them. Any suggestions would be appreciated.
