can you order online with the gift card? and also does it work at any store?

It works on any site or in any store that accepts American Express. The problem though is, if you don't have enough money on the card for what you're buying online, websites don't allow you to enter a secondary card to cover the remainder of the payment.
It's best to go to a store or order on the phone. They can split the payment for you across the gift card and a credit or debit card.
Also, if the cost of what you're buying isn't exactly the amount that's on the card, you could wind up with a small balance and not much to do with it.
