Tattoos - October 2007

Just wanting to ask what tattoos you guys/girls have, where they are and what they mean to you?

I think tattoos that are a bit of a story board of your life and it's milestones make you really unique (as opposed to the generic Asian characters/symbols etc).

SO. What are your stories???

I have:

A crash cymbal symbol in the back of my neck (it's drum kit musical notation) because playing the drums is my LIFE. It's a serious passion that I could never part with.

A cartoon zombie rabbit on my inner left ankle for my pet rabbit who is like a son to me... love him very much (he acts like a puppy dog, very cute!).

A chicken standing on a star on my right shoulder blade. This is for my sister/best friend who I love a lot and call "Chicken". It's a cute line drawring based on my favourite board game form when I was child. The star is based on a Hollywood star and symbolises her ambition to be an actress/singer.

(Oh, and I designed/drew all of my tatts myself.)

I read all these questions about little 14 year old years wanting tattoos and piercings but their parents won't let them and they don't know WHY their parents are so mean and what can they do to do it secretly?!

If you go find somewhere that will let little 14 year old girls get tattoos and piercings, you probably shouldn't get one done there.

I just find it all ridiculous. Just venting!

I made a homemade tattoo machine (exactly like tha one on http://www.rentyman.com/neatstuff/tattoo.html). I'm only using the machine on me, and i have WAY more than one needle to use. Are there any "adjustments" that I can make to where there is constantly ink on the needle being used? I ask this because I want to make full lines with a single stroke, rather than making a "dot" or two, and then re-dipping it into the ink. And also, do I need to hole the machine at an angle to make a line, or what do i need to do?

Hi,
I was wondering if it was possible to tattoo skin that has already had laser tattoo removal?

I have a tattoo on my back and was hoping for a change

Once I've done laser tattoo removal, will the skin take ink like it did before? or will a new tattoo over the lasered area actually appear scarred and/or discolored?

I'm getting a tattoo of a dove on the back of my shoulder to honor a lost loved one.. I want it to be simple and feminine but I cant decide how large I want it .. the 2 doves I'm stuck between is this one..

I love how cute and simple the first one is but the second one has beautiful wings but idk if that will be too big for me. I'm a small girl so I wanted something simple, easy to cover up if I have to.. What would you choose?

I know some of you may say "that someones else's doves, you should get your own made" .. I totally agree with that.. I'm using these doves as a basis model of what i want.

I have this fairly large tattoo on the underside of my forearm that I really don't like anymore, and I am sick of hiding it. There colors are mostly yellow with some black outlines. I wanna get possibly a koi fish or a dragon or a tiger over it.

Anyone know if this is possible?

I have very, very light skin and the tattoo is about 4 years old, if that helps.

And yes, I REALLY don't like the tattoo anymore

Another tattoo question...
I'm thinking of getting a very small tattoo only in white ink...
Does anyone have a white ink tattoo/have any personal experience with them? I really would like some info, because I am hearing a lot of conflicting statements about them. do they hurt more? do they fade? etc

I have a Horse Tattoo on my lower back:

What happened to getting inked because you wanted to mark an important time, or make a rite of passage, or worked really hard planning a piece that no one else could ever duplicate that really means something to you? Putting thought into and being proud of your work? Seriously, how much did yosemite sam really effect your life? I never realized how cheap these trend whores have made it until i started reading thru this section. breaks my heart. *sniff*
