If done correctly, (that is, not over-worked with chewed up skin) it should not be sensitive for more than a few days. This is also dependent on where it is - if it is an area that gets a lot of motion, rubbing from clothing, etc., it will be sore longer.
Also, if it scabbed (no, scabbing is NOT always normal - it is preferred, with proper aftercare, that a tattoo does not scab) it will be sensitive even longer.
It's still a skin abrasion, even if colored. As they say...if it hurts to touch it, then don't touch it! HAHA

It'll take a week or two to heal and it will be tender, like a sunburn for most of that time. Wash it gently, pat it dry, DON"T scratch it (it'll start to itch like mad in a couple of day, but a light slap should relieve it if you just can't stand it,) and keep it moist with water-based lotion.

well usually depends on the size and depth...
it takes an average of 10-12 days for normal-sized tattos
and you need to clean it with cold soapy water 3 times a day DO NOT rub and TAP dry with a soft towell or tissue.
don t forget to apply the disinfectant cream that also helps it heel... the medicated one usually you have to use it for 3 days but do not put too much because you can overmedicate it and that s not good...follow your tat-artist s directions...if yr tatoo is not too big the irritation will go away in like 4-5 days but it s still sensitive...keep it clean and moisturized
always!!! mine (i took good care of it) the irritation went away the next day the sensitivity in like 10 days but i keep it moistured and avoid rubbing with towells. i got it 2 mnths ago...oh!!! and don t use creams with alcohol or scents...
take good care of it especially in the beggining ..... ENJOY IT !!!

This usually means you are **emitting pheromones** to attract a worthy, ultra-sensitive stimuli to alleviate the over-whelming sensation.
