Every website you visit will only show you their best results - they are likely not going to show their disasters - we see them in the tattoo studio all the time to get a cover piece over a bad laser job.
All lasers are not created equal - if your tattoo is colored, there is a different laser needed for each color - medlite laser seems to do a fairly good job in the right hands.
Also, I personally think they do the treatments way too close together. I guess people are in a hurry for results, but if you wait a minimum of three months in between each session, you would allow for more healing time and the removal continues during that time. It is also a lot cheaper since you will end up requiring less treatments in the long run.
If you have darker skin, it is very common for these lasers to remove your normal skin tone as well so you will end up with white marks here and there.

It is expensive from what I understand and it usually leaves an amount of scar tissue. Also, it is not 100% effective and may take several times to fully remove the tattoo. The same with acid treatments.
My suggestion is to not get a tattoo if you count on getting it removed. If you already have the tattoo, I suggest you talk to an artist and try and fix it up or cover it up. Either way, talking to an artist is a good bet.

I don't know about the scar tissue. But I know of 2 people that are getting it done. They were told it would only take 3-5 treatments. But it's more like 7-9 which means more money. So make sure you have enough money saved up so you can finish the job.

it works. the laser heats the ink under the skin until it explodes/boils. Shop around for the best price, it's costly because it requires multiple visits.
But.......
Intense Pulsed Light Therapy, or IPL, is the newest and greatest dermal enhancer currently being used. Instead of laser light, it uses high intensity light in pretty much the same manner. A gel is applied to the skin and then a wand is used to emit pulses of light onto the skin area being treated. This method is said to be less painful than laser therapy, and more effective, resulting in less total treatment sessions.

At best you wont be able to see the scar at worst you will have a very noticeable scar in the shape of your tattoo.
You may want to consider a cover up??
