Tattoos - September 2007

Some random strangers on the Internets said they don't like my idea for a tattoo. Everyone was supposed to say they liked it, so I would have the confidence to go do it. But some people just HAD to give their opinions, and now I don't know what to do or what kind of tattoo to get.

Who can I turn to for reassurance that my idea is just as special as I am?:

im a girl with tattoos...infact...i have 5 shooting stars on my left forearm and a zodiac sign behing my right ear (which is not that big)..a gentleman just approached me and told me that its totally not feminine!!...what kind of **** is that...i could be just as girly girl as the next..why do some men say that!!??.do you guys out there like girls with tatts (not manly tatts though)...it kinda got me upset...am i wrong for being sooo defensive??

I really want to get my second tattoo. My first one has the words "you are beautiful" in italian. I got this because I used to have a very bad eating disorder. I was in a clinic for a while, and I got ym tattoo meaning all the other girls out there that have eating disorders, they should not think the way I thought of myself because they are beautiful.
I want my second tattoo to be just as meaningful. I know it should be picked out myself, I just need a little push. I know what I'm trying to say I just don't know how to put it into a short quote. It needs to be short because I want it on the back of my neck. I want my wuote to either be about the eating disorder I had and how i conquered it, or about following your dreams. I was really sick and didn't even go to highschool, but am ow on my way to medical school.
Here are some thoughts I had, tell me what you think-
1. this too shall pass
2. arms wide open
3. stay true
4. never stop dreaming

or maybe you have a suggesstion !

I plan on getting my second tattoo in the near future. For some reason, I REALLY want one on the back of my neck . . but I'm not really into pictures, i like sayings. I need help thinking of a saying that is short. I was thinking about getting "This too shall pass" . . what do you guys think about that ? ? (Oh, and don't waste your time leaving me a commetn saying tattoos are ugly . . i obviously do not want your oppinion) . . but yeah anyways I just want something meaningful. I've been looking hours at song lyrics but can't find anything. Keep in mine i'm a big romantic ;] haha but - it needs to be a short qoute if I get it on my neck. Also, should I do color or black and whiite ? ?

I don't have a tattoo, but I am not closed to the idea. I always thought if someone got one, it should mark an exceptional event in their life, or something else equally profound. Yet, I see so many people get one, just cause it looks nice.

This doesn't make sense to me. Something that stays on your body forever should be almost sacred. Your body is a temple, so a tattoo should be no less than the equivalent of your own stained-glass window.

I'm sure I'll get some objections, but does anyone out there agree with me? And if so, do you have a tattoo yet? Any answers would be appreciated.

Ok so this is a really dumb question and I know people are going to answer with of course it will hurt but here goes. I'm going to get a new tattoo on Saturday on my shoulder blade... Will it hurt more there because it is closer to the bone? People say it vibrates the bone and aches... I have a tattoo on my wrist and to me that didn't hurt that bad at all...

My b/f wants a tattoo of a queen of hearts and we haven't been able to find a nice picture of one. He wants her to be pretty or sexy and all we can find is the queen of hearts on a deck of cards. I already arranged an appointed with the tattoo studio, I want a beautiful stilized mermaid on my lower back at the left side, but all my friends are calling me crazy saying that it's vulgar for a girl to have a tattoo and questioning the fact I haven0t told my parents about it (i'm 23 by the way!!!)

When they pierce your septum, they go through the thin skin between the very end of your nose and the cartilidge right?

Can any one give me a rating on the pain scale 1-10 for this piercing?

I've already had my tongue, lip and belly button (twice), I have my ears gauged to 00s, and I have a tattoo. My pain threshold is moderate.

I'm thinking of either getting that, a monroe, or a second lip piercing (snake bites),

I was wondering, could you get any color? Or is it you say red, and there's only one type of red. Is it just normal colors, or could you specify a certain purple or a certain green? Or could you choose a color like magenta or teal or some abnormal color?

I had some extensive bold line work done on my arm approximately 4 weeks ago. I applied moisturizer 2-3 times per day for 2.5 weeks. I watched as the tattoo progressed through the various stages of healing. (I have a lot of ink, have used this artist extensively, have followed this after-care regimen in the past, and have never had any problems.)

After 3.5 weeks (5-6 days ago) I noticed that the lines suddenly raised significantly. I also noticed some little bumps under the lines spaced at irregular intervals. (Not all areas were affected.)

The tattooed area has always been covered to avoid sun exposure and I applied sunscreen to the area (in addition to covering it with clothing) when I took a trip to the beach two or three days before observing the "rise".

Now I'm wondering if the raised areas will "settle-down" to how they were prior to the sunscreen application or if they've been permanently changed/damaged.

Is there anything that I can do at this point?

i'd like some ideas as to what kinda pictures i should use as a tattoo. i'm thinking lower back, left shoulder, around the ankle, or around the navel. i like dolphins but i don't want the tattoo to look too kiddy, else might look like a sticker. ;)

I have noticed that most of the people that come in here say that they want a tattoo in Sanskrit usually say "sanscript" or "sandscript". Does it seem odd to anybody else that these people want a tattoo in a language that they don't even really know the name of?

folks, i plan on getting a armband tattoo, thorns maybe. however my partner says it's trashy for a woman to have a armband. i'm solid, never will be skinny. tell me folks if you were in line and spot a woman with a armband tattoo is your first thought - trashy woman -? i bet i'm older than most of you with a kid in high school. come on i need your past thoughts when you have looked up and saw a arm band on a woman..what did ya think of her?

He has a yellow tattoo on his arm, the size of an index finger that he wants to get covered up.
Does anyone know of a good place that they think I could get an appointment and that can cover up his tattoo?
