Tattoos - September 2007

So I went to enlist in the Coast Guard and they turned me down due to tattoo's on my forearm. I have three nautical stars and they are not that big, I don't think they cover more than 25% of my arm. I guess what I'm getting at is that why If I'm willing to go out there and die saving someones life or doing something good, should my tattoo's be used to judge my qualifications. That is truly sad! I understand trying to look professional or what not but come on, turn some one down because they have tattoo's, really stupid.

I want to get another tattoo and i am thinking about my lower back because the design that I have would look perfect there. I am just worried that people will say it is a "tramp stamp" and that I am slutty. I AM NOT! I have been married for almost two years now and my husband wants me to get it and doesn't care where I put it.
What is y'alls opinion on the lower back tattoos???

I will be getting a full set of angels wings, down past my behind- now I need to know about white as a fill. I have heard it fades. So wot other color would look ok-a light yellow or should I leave the insides of the feathers blank? But I worry that it will look empty, bcause the tat will be so large.
And I am abit gun shy about color, all my other tats are black.
I'm very fair skinned.

im 16 right now, but i want to eventually get a 3/4 sleeve. i know i have a while to think about it, but i dont know if i want to get a scene of something going the whole way down or a bunch of different things and then connect them somehow. I was thinking that if i got a scene it would be of a swamp since im from louisiana. i would get it to look like a nice sunny day and would want it to look basically like a photograph.

if i didnt get that, i have a few things i would want to get, like a portrait of a wolf, and a cross, and few other things, but i dont know if id be able to incorporate all those things and make it look good :(

can you give me some advice on what you think looks better on sleeves, or if you have any suggestions or anything? id really appreciate it!

hi, i want to get a tattoo on my back of a weeping willow with white leaves. I would get the leaves outlined with black but i want them to be filled in white, but i have been reading a lot about how it fades quickly and doesnt take with some people at all. i am extremely fair-skinned though. i'd appreciate any info you can give, thanks.

We are getting two tigers which represents the two of us. We have been best friends for 12 years and have been through everything, good and bad, together and we have both always loved tigers.

She wants to get chinese symbols for Best Friends between the two tigers. I dont like chinese symbol tattoos. I told her I want to get the letters BFF in english. We can't agree. What should we do?

Hii..

I got my first tattoo on the top of my left foot friday night and now its starting to get itchy...really bad! I've been using tons of lubriderm [my tattooist suggested lubriderm and not a&d or neosporin] and cleaning it with antibacterial soap 3 times a day. So I was just wondering is it normal for it to get itchy couples days later? thanks=]

The next time some almost 18 year old gets on here and asks about a star/butterfly/fairy hip/lower back/ankle tattoo I'm gonna scream.

I think the worst place to get a tattoo would be underneath your fingernail. Can you imagine how much that would hurt? First they would have to rip off your finger nail or file it down to the skin and then have the needles puncture into your skin. That would hurt!!!!!

I am being offered a tattoo apprentiseship for 4,500. I have to be at the shop open to close and scrub tubes, clean up, work with customers, etc. And eventually I will have to be there more hours than the actual person who is apprenticing me! Is that unfair? Also I am obligated to stay at that shop 4 years after I'm signed over. And I have to pay for ALL of my own stuff while I'm being taught - my machine, needles, tubes, ink, paper towels. That's on top of the 4,500.

Does it sound like a fair legitimate deal? Why or why not and what should I be looking for? I have been told by others before that you either pay for the apprenticeship or you earn it by spending time and working at the shop. But the guy who's going to apprentice me is having me do both. I appreciate any info.

Hi, I just got my 1st tattoo Saturday September 22. I am happy with it but it being my 1st tattoo I have a couple questions...

1) What does everyone think of the quality?

2) I REALLY want to color the cat in but am unsure what color. I have tan skin and wonder what will show up and not fade fast.

3) I tan in tanning booths for migraine control? Can I still go and just cover the tattoo with a bandage? (Before and after it is healed)

4) Any aftercare advice?

Could a tattoo affect your career?
Let's say it's a very small tattoo that's on your lower-back or shoulder. Could that still be harmful to a professional career, in law?
I'm planning on getting a small tattoo on my back, that's meaningful to me, but I'm worried it could hurt my chances at being a successful lawyer, or even a figure in politics.

Just got a brand new kick *** tatoo on my upper back, in between my shoulder blades. Problem is, I do not want anyone to know about it....so putting lotion on it is going to be a HUGE problem. It has to stay moist for a couple of days. Anyone have any ideas??????

I got a tattoo done a couple of months ago (22nd July to be exact) and I noticed that it was a little smudged when it was finished, but seen it was my fist tattoo, I thought it was normal and would go away. But it hasn't. It's not smudged a lot and not tottally obvious, but there's faint blackness around the tattoo. Is this normal? Will it go away with time?
