Unless you are going to practice law in a Bikini You should have nothing to worry about. :)
I have been a school teacher with Several Tattoos and I have them where they cannot be seen by the eye.
if you are worried put them somewhere where you can show them off for the weekend :)

At work, I've never been discriminated against because of my tattoos. I've had employers ask me to try to cover them, which is reasonable.
I know a person whose brother is a lawyer, and he has full sleeve tattoos on both his arms, so this should not be a factor. I love when people used to ask me "How are you going to get a job with tattoos?" I used to say, "by the time I'm old enough to start a career, my boss will most likely have a few tattoos his/herself!".
The only time I've witnessed discrimination on account of being tattooed is when my spouse and I go out shopping or to a nice restaurant for dinner. He is very heavily tattooed - neck , arms, hands, etc. When he's in a store, the clerks will sometimes watch him a bit more closely because they think "He's got tattoos - he's gonna steal something", and at some upscale restaurants, if our server is a bit older (and more typically male), we won't really get as much respect as the sweet elderly couple sitting at the next table. Luckily, a lot of servers in our area are younger females who have tattoos themselves.

Really, there's not much you can do when it comes to discrimination. Someone I worked with for almost a year said that she didn't see me the same way after she learned that I had tattoos. That's not exactly discrimination, but be aware that sometimes assumptions are made about those of us with tattoos.
I have a wrist tattoo that I located precisely where I wear my watch so that it's easy to conceal. If you're going to be in a professional setting, wearing professional clothing, then there should be nothing to worry about. To play it safe, keep the ink above the knees and below the neck, and nothing from fingertips to elbows.

if you have a tattoo that is not visible to your employer at any time while you are on duty there is no way that it could hurt your career. and working in a law firm should never require you showing off your shoulders or your lower back. i'm sure people are discriminated against every day because of their tattoos. i have a friend who has tattoos on her wrists and she didn't get a job at a law office and i think that tattoos are partly to blame.
good luck!

How on earth would any office personnel see one on your back? Tell you what, I got a rose (yellow for my sister, she's my best friend, with a tiny "c" under it) on the back of my neck & NEVER thought I'd regret it- also I thought I'd always have long hair. I'm 40 now, doing a major career change, also cut all my hair off (red, short & spiky- LOVE IT). I'm kinda worrying about how I'm gonna cover the tattoo at interviews & such. Hate turtlenecks. Regret, kinda. Be careful- think hard before you do anything. You will NOT always be the same person...

although it shouldn't, it still does happen. Some people may not take you seriously, which is a shame because you don't change at all because you have a tattoo. However, if you can hide it until you make a good name for yourself, it couldn't hurt. I'm sorry to be the bearer of bad news, especially because your tat will be meaningful, but unfortunately does sometimes happen. Don't give up your dreams though!! :)

I don't see how a small back piece could have any detrimental effect to your career in law, or pretty much any other profession. That's pretty much a mainstream place for a tattoo, and how it could cause a problem is beyond me.

you have nothing to worry about because if you are planning a law or politics carrer you will only wear suits at work so the tattoo won't be visible.if the tattoo is so important to you you should have it.

Ok, I have the PERFECT solution for you.
Since your tattoos would be hidden...
DON'T SHOW THE TATTOO TO WHOEVER YOU WANT TO HIRE YOU.
Duhh.
How can you be discriminated against for a tattoo they can't see.
