If you want it go for it. I'm a female and I currently have three tattoos and I'm working on the design for my fourth. Make sure you think long and hard about what you want because it is permanent. Don't let others tell you what to do. It's your body do with it as you please. As for the whole not telling your parents thing your an adult, it's your decision. It's not vulgar for a woman to have a tattoo, that's just a stereotype and the fact that people are too quick to judge and set in their own ways, not willing to accept change or difference. Tattoos don't make a person any less. A person's character is what makes them vulgar slutty etc, not a tattoo. The tattoo design sounds very nice and probably has meaning to you. Don't let others stand in the way of what you want. In the end as long as you are happy with it, that is all that matters. Good Luck

Having a tattoo wont make you punk or goth or slutty. If you want one get it, a real friend will stand by you and atleast respect your choice. Go for it, it's for you not them. You don't have to tell your parents, it's your body and you are doing it legally. Ignore the bs your "friend" is dishing out, ask the person to respect your choices and not give you crap. You are an adult and have the right to. You'll still be who you are, just have some life long body art to make any wrinkles colorful when you are really old. I would personally rather have wrinkled tattoos (if it gets like that) then just plain boring wrinkles. Do what you want hun, do it for yourself and be sure. Don't let anyone doubt you, it's your choice at the end of the day, if you want it go for it!

It's not vulgar at all to have a tattoo, no matter what your gender. I'm an 18 year old girl and I have four tattoos and I know it won't stop at that. Two of them are even dedicated to people in my life that have died in the past year. If it is really something that you feel you would enjoy for the rest of your life (they ARE permanent!) then go for it!

Heck no. Get it if you want it. I first wanted a tattoo when I was fourteen and saw that Janis Joplin had had one. I didn't get one when I was 18 or even when I was 29 because I was afraid of what people would say. Then I was 30 and I realized I hadn't done anything I really wanted to in life because I was afraid of what people would say, that they would disapprove. I started getting inked and pierced and never looked back. They can all go to the devil if they don't like it. I say if you feel good about, go for it. If you regret it later, pay the big bucks and get it removed. But, for what it's worth, I bet you won't regret it.

No not at all. I was toying with the idea of getting two. One on my ankle and the other on my back

I imagine that the people that are telling you it is vulgar are a different sort of people. My neighbor is in her 40's and she has a sun on her ankle with the initials SVM, the initials of her sons.
Tatoos are very personal don't let anyone make you question a decision such as this.
Today tats for a woman are MUCH more common and acceptable.
However, if you plan to have a professional career it would be best to have it in a place that would be concealed during the day. Not everyone (as you can see from your frineds) are as accepting.

I see nothing wrong with getting a tattoo. I have 3 of them on my back (1 on each shoulder blade and one in the center of my lower back). You're an adult, you don't have to tell your parents you are getting it. Tattoos have become more mainstream. They aren't only for rockers anymore. If you want the tat and you love it then go for it! Hope this helped.

it's a place that is not flashy and if you want it I say go for it. If you decide later it was a mistake you can use it as a story to tell your kids or others plus they have things to remove them which work better than people think and also you prolly wouldn't want to remove it for a few years so think where science will be by then if you do change you mind. Live it up. I would love to get one but I have to money at the point and I have no idea which idea i would want to get first.

Girl, do whatever you want! I got a lion tattoo on my hip/butt and I love it! I did that at 19 too and everybody likes it because it doesn't look retarded. Just make sure that your tattoo is one that you will like 20 years from now. Consider if it'll still be appropriate when you have kids and even grandchildren!
I say go for it though!

These days everyone are getting tattoos, 10 years ago, it was unheard of girls getting tatts, but today, it's more acceptable. Just make sure that you are sure of what you want before you get it. Get a copy of the picture, and put it on the wall, so that you have to look at it everyday, if you don't ever get sick of it, then go for it, you are an adult, you can choose what you want to do with your body.

All types of people get tattoos nowadays and there is an old stereotype that it is trashy...but society is slowly changing. I don't think it's vulgar at all (I have one) and if it is on your back you can cover it up when you want. Don't worry about what other ppl think.
