Tattoos - April 2007

I've had my tattoo now for about a week now and it's started scabbing pretty nastily. Though, I am taking VERY good care of it and have not been scratching or picking at the scabs.

What I want to know is, is it natural for the "scabs" to look like small pieces of surface ink? Because I have these tiiiny little black specs busy coming off. Also, the tattoo seems to be getting slightly lighter, but nothing dramatic, it's starting to look like a "real" tattoo instead of some fake transfer one (like the ink is finally setting into my skin properly.)

Should I be freaking out??

I saw this tat in the Tattoo magazine about 3 years ago during mar-aug and it had this cute but dark voodoo doll. it didn't have any pins sticking out of it it just had a flip hair do, and a cute dress and her legs looked like popsicle sticks and she had x's for eyes. I was wondering if anyone had seen it or could possible email it to me.

Another question, would that be a bad idea for me to get a voodoo doll on me when i really don't know anything about voodoo? I don't want to hex myself.

I am thinking of getting one once I turn 18 in January...I mean I know it's a major thing to do and I want it to have a personal significance and importance. Also, I was wondering if someone could tell me price estimates for small to large tattoos.

I have 3 Tattoos and I love them my first 2 are jappaness symbols and my 3rd that I got last week is a my little pony (dont judge it untill you see it coz it looks really really good) but does anyone out there hate there tattoos???

I just got a tattoo 8 days ago and its of black stars on my foot. It was really black when i first got it but now it looks more of a gray color. same with my moms. should i go get it recolored? or is this supposed to happen? i havent been in the sun with it and ive been washing it and putting neosporin on it. help!!

Tattoo dilema?
I have a tattoo of a chinese symbol that has been there for 10 years and has ran. I went to see a tattooist who is highly rated and he said it ha ran so ba it cant be touched up it will need to be covered completely with something new!

I also asked him to do writting on my wrist and he said he wouldnt do it as it wud look rubbish in 10 years as writting becomes unreadable. I was really upset because i wanted it doing desperatly. And now i have doubts about my wrists because of the fear of it looking shabby! any advice please?

It's the two keys from the smashing pumpkins album melancholy infinite saddness and it is one my hip bone. I think it is so annoying.

My questions, does anyone else hate their tattoos? It does symbolise a time period in my life, but it's not really something that I want to remember.

I'm considering getting another tattoo on my other hip to sort of balance the equation or getting the first tatttoo removed. I'm not really sure. Get the first removed or get another tatttoo? I hate the first, but somehow think a second will help. Based on personal experience, is getting a removal or a second tattoo better?

I will NOT be getting either a second tattoo or a removal done for at least another year, so don't worry, no rash decisions will be made this time around.

i've found that ppl presume if you have lots of tatts that you're either a bum or dim & could never better yourself in a career.i am covered in tattoos but have just been promoted in my job as a carer for old ppl with dementia

I personally, had a visible tattoo on my right ankle. I wanted to get it removed and did my research on qualified doctors who remove tattoos with lasers. I found what i believed to be a highly qualified, board certified dermatologist who practiced removing tattoos by this method. This doctor is a well known doctor in a prestiguis town, who is also highly ranked specialist in mohs surgery and other procedures as well; including cosmetic. I obviosly believed him when he said that he could remove my plain black lettering tattoo of my ankle. After three years and several thousands later...My tattoo seemed visible. i decided to not only go to tattooo show for their opinion, but to another doctor who specialized in tattoo removal. As it turns out the original doctor who was removing the tattoo, had not spaced out the treatments long enough and had scarred my leg. Basically, I was left with a dull scar-like remneant of my old tattoo. I have since then gotten a butterfly over it....

i havent yet recovered but assuming i recover from both, i want to get this tattoo.
like the eating disorder recovery symbol, and inside of it i want a black and grey naked fairy sitting down with her knees up to her chest and her face in her knees.
is that a good tattoo that i could represent my recovery of both my eating disorder and depression?

My boyfriend and I are going to be getting matching tattoos soon. The tattoo is very important to us because it's going to represent my miscarriage - I was pregnant with twins. I know exactly what I want - an elephant (the head only) with two tears coming down its cheek. I don't want the whole elephant because I want the tears to be easily visible. My problem is that I don't want it to look like I have a floating elephant head on my body so I need some advice on what I should get around the head so it looks complete. Any suggestions will be appreciated.

Any girls that have gotten them where did you get them, and how painful was it, like compare it to something if you could. My boyfriend wants me to get a matching sun and moon tat w/ him. My boyfriend just recently, got a tattoo of my name on his chest! Its pretty big too, it would be hard to cover up. What does everyone think of this? He loves me very much (obviously) and we are also having a kid together, and getting married in a couple months. He says that I will always mean something to him... and I will ALWAYS be the mother of his child. Anyone else have a similar situation? Im not too sure what to think of this whole thing!?
