Some tattoo artist don't like doing wrist tattoo's rather than saying i don't like doing wrist tattoo's or i'm not good at letter they will say the ink is going to run. I can see why it can fade more because your always moving your wrist around but not the ink running.
When i first went about getting a wrist tattoo i was told the ink will run so it put me off for about a month but i still really wanted it done. I did some research and spoke to some artist and they said the inks better now so it wouldn't turn into an unreadable blob over the years.
You could find an amazing tattoo artist but it doesn't mean they are good at lettering. I've found some amazing tattoo artist but they told me they wouldn't do my wrist tattoo not because the ink would run but because they are good a big pieces and not lettering. If you look around at tattoo's you find some really good tattoos with not so good lettering.
Do some more research, ask some more tattoo artists their views on wrist tattoos and find someone that is good at lettering.
As for the comment someone made hand and wrist tattoo's are a bad idea because you wash them more is a silly comment. Just because you wash your hand and wrists more doesn't make a difference. The tattoo ink is layers under the skins so unless you wash and scrub yourself with sand paper washing is not going to harm your tattoo.

I dont really understand how the tattoo can run.. ..unless you either gained or lost some weight, or the tattoo was too small to begin with. If you get writing of any sort, a good artist will tell you to get the tattoo larger to prevent it from looking like a blob when you get older.
Dont get it on your wrists. Get it somewhere else.

I have 4 tattoos and I love all of them, I have my daughter's name on my arm, if you want writing get it somewhere the writing can be a little bigger, I think it would become unreadable on your wrist because it would have to be small...what about on your chest or back?? If you are going to a good tattoo artist they will be able to help you out....hope you find what you are looking for

If he is an experienced tatto artist, then you can take what he says to the bank. He's telling you he won't accept your money becuase it will look bad in ten years, so take him at his word. My first tattoo was a six-legged scorpion that was quickly covered up by a monster, awesome-looking, eight-legged scorpion. Go for the cover up.

Here's what my artist (who has been tattooing for over 20 years) told me. "If someone comes in and wants a tattoo on their hands, neck or face....I won't do it unless they are already heavily tattooed ....then I figure why not....they're already losers. What will more ink hurt?"
Maybe your artist didn't want to be the one to "out" you with a tattoo that can't be easily covered.

I don't understand what you mean when you say your tattoo "ran". How can it run? I've had tattoos for more than thirty years and none of them have "run". The ink may fade, but it can't run.

I dunno, you can see a dermatologist about having it removed entirely. Or if you trust this guy, let him show you how it will look when finished---your choice. Wrists and hands are bad places for tattoos, because they get washed more often than any other body parts.

don't get any more tattoos - when you are old and your skin gets all wrinkled and flabby the tattoos will look really dumb and nasty and you will wish you hadn't gotten them. have you ever seen an old person with a tattoo? it's really nasty. yuck!
