I am thinking of getting one once I turn 18 in January...I mean I know it's a major thing to do and I want it to have a personal significance and importance. Also, I was wondering if someone could tell me price estimates for small to large tattoos.

there is really no good answer for the question you are asking.
good ideas for tattoos are few and far between in my opinion. the more unique the better but it's still hard to come up with a good idea especially for someone who we don't even know.
all of my tattoos are personal and have meaning to them so you just have to look inside yourself and see what feels right for you.
as far as prices go for tattoos they can be as cheap as $30 and as expensive as the wallet will allow. the most important thing to do is research artists and find one in your area that is talented. i always suggest finding a custom tattoo artist who can create a tattoo just for you based on an idea or a picture that you have. different artists charge differently. mine charges by the hour so each tattoos price depends on how long it takes no matter how small or large it is.
the best thing you can do is good research.

tattoos are always very expensive, even if it is a small one. i know a guy who has tattoos all over, from webs on his elbows, though when he got them he didn't realize that webs on the elbows mean that you have done time the reference is that you sit in a cell for years lying on your elbows for so long that spiderwebs come up your arms. But he has spent thousands almost a million on tattoos. Remember, tattoos remain on you forever, no old lady looks good with a tattoo, even one that you can't always see, and when you get them removed, the scar that it leaves is almost as bad as the tattoo itself, but if you insist, tattoos should show something that symbolizes you personally, if you are a certain race, and u want to show pride in that. get a symbol that symbolizes you, say you are chinese then you can get a chinese symbol saying pride or something like that. say you are a humanist you can get a fairy or a tree with fairies. fairies, butterflies, humingbirds, roses, winnie the pooh, are all great ideas for feminine tattoos. if you are more the masculine type you could always go with the gothic approach and get a dark fairy, shadow fairy, or something along those lines, or a bleeding heart, to show that love doesn't go without a price, or a heart with a rose wrapped around it to show that love comes softly. something like that, i am not a tattoo artist, nor do i have tattoos or want tattoos, i am an artist, and i enjoy the artwork that goes into tattoo making, i do draw tattoo like art, such as some of the things i listed above, please think about this long and hard, think of the consequences, think of the risks and the stats you are bringing up having people stick ink under ure skin. skin cancer is more likely to target a person with tattoos than without, and women are at a higher risk too, so you have a doubled chance of getting skin cancer, and if the mark is on the breast, more of a chance for both breast cancer and/or skin cancer. tattoos are a dangerous think, think about what the tattoo might symbolize on the streets, i have known people to get hurt because there tattoos said something to the guys on the street, and they didn't like that, or like my other friend who was raped because she was showing off her tramp stamp on the streets. again, think this through entirely. i hope this helps, Kate

Imagine a 12-year old version of yourself deciding something that lasts the rest of your life. That's how you'd feel when you're 30 about an 18-year old version of yourself. A tattoo is a permanent commitment, and if you want to get one for the sake of getting one, that's a true sign that you shouldn't be getting one.

That said, names of lovers, names of bands are generally bad. Anything that you don't trust the tattoo artist to get right are bad (e.g., no Chinese symbols unless they know Chinese or Japanese Kanji). Good, solid designs that last, symbols, your name (perhaps written in an ancient script), religious symbols, etc. have more staying power.

Prices vary by the demand of the tattooist.
How much work they do and experience they have.
Coloring and size adds to the cost as well.
Shop around and get recommendations from at least several people and shops.

Come up with your own original design, take it to an artist, have them draw it up. Price varies widely by where you live, size, color. Where I go is a minimum of $60 after that it is $120 an hour. Plus I tip.....

Tattoos are supose to be something personal to you, tats are ment to be about something,or someone special to you.tats are not ment to just be put on the body for the purpose of just being there.all my tattoos mean something,or are personal to me,like my birth sign,my grils name, one is even for my mom,but tattoos are ment to be personal to you,not just a bunch of ink on your body.I wish you all the luck with choosing your tattoos.

The best tattoo is the one you never got. Only idiots have them. Be smart and don't deface the body God gave you. He never makes a mistake...
