It's the two keys from the smashing pumpkins album melancholy infinite saddness and it is one my hip bone. I think it is so annoying.

My questions, does anyone else hate their tattoos? It does symbolise a time period in my life, but it's not really something that I want to remember.

I'm considering getting another tattoo on my other hip to sort of balance the equation or getting the first tatttoo removed. I'm not really sure. Get the first removed or get another tatttoo? I hate the first, but somehow think a second will help. Based on personal experience, is getting a removal or a second tattoo better?

I will NOT be getting either a second tattoo or a removal done for at least another year, so don't worry, no rash decisions will be made this time around.

I would go for the second tattoo as a sort've cover-up or intertwined with what you currently have.

You can look back and remember how it used to be, and the current tattoo would represent how much you've grown. i.e. The covering can be very symbolic.

Removal is super painful, expensive, and you can get scarring from it. I've yet to see a perfect removal, which is why people tend to cover up past tattoos with more current loves.

Yeah, I got a big'un on my back that I despise. I can't seem to bring back the feelings that made me get it in the first place. It's a giant panther, and it's rather violent. I'm not a violent person, I may be considered a pacifist, even. I hate it more than I can tell you.

But I got it 11 years ago, and don't know what to do about it... lol. I can't afford removal or anything like that. Some day, when I have extra money I intend to get it the hell off of my skin.

On the other hand, I have two on my lower ankles that I love. One is a set of footprints, the other is a ladybug hiding behind my ankle.

If I were you, if you truly hate it that much, I'd get it off. I don't know what the success rate of removal is, and what skin looks like afterward, though. You might want to do a little independent research and see if you can get some before & after pictures...

If you don't like the first one, and cover it up with another, whats going to stop you from this same process in another three years?

A lot of people think the solution to liking a hated tattoo is to cover it up with something else. Problem is they end up hating that one later on too. if you are serious about getting another tattoo you need to plan it out and think about it for a while. Put the design some where your going to see it everyday. if in a year you still like it, then all the power to you and get it. if not, then just get the previous one removed.

Most tattoo artists are really good about covering up tattoo's. Why not get something you really want over the other one? No one will ever even know the other one existed! This way you won't have to pay for the torture of having one removed!

I have a tattoo that I really hate on my arm. I am in the process of getting it removed. I only have 3 more treatments to go.

Getting a tattoo removed is pretty expensive and time consuming.

Very talented artists will be able tattoo over your old one. They are able to hide I should say. Just find something that you would like that would be able to cover it. I have one I hate only because of the way the guy did it but I made the decision so I guess I'm just gonna live with it since it was done at a certain time of my life. Its just a reminder.

You have already committed yourself to the tattoo. Keep it. If another one will help balance it out - which I'll bet it would, then do it.

Do not get tattoo's removed. That is cheating.

Find something you like now and put it on the other side. In time its significance will fade, but it is meant to serve as a reminder.

I had a tattoo that I wasn't happy with so I had a cover-up done over it and it turned out great...so this might be an option for you. If not then I would just have it removed if you do not like it.

I would go with a cover up tattoo. Removing tattoos are very expensive and I have a friend that had one remove and she has a scar from it.

I would get it removed. I have a tattoo on my finger and I wear a ring to cover it up. Everytime I expose it, I feel like I am naked. I hate this tattoo!
