...are there even any?

I've been looking around and I found to be fascinated by the fact that there are apparently no downfalls on the legalization of so-called "soft drugs" in the Netherlands.
This even seems to be helping the people, as their rate of addiction is one of the lowest in the world.

Perhaps this could be an example for the rest of us...

Or am I missing something?

My stepfather is abusive to my mother. Recently he threatened to kill my mother and even put a loaded shotgun to her head. In all the years that they have been together (23 years) he has been threatening to kill her over the past two.
I've tried everything in my power to help my mom, I've offered to have her stay with me, I've called the police, and I've paid for her to go to counseling, to no avail. I seriously don't know what I can possibly do to help her. I'm so afraid that my stepfather will kill her, but I'm afraid of calling the police on him again because he's extremely manipulative and will convince the police that there's no problem (he's done this in the past and they live in a small town where everyone knows everyone) and I'm afraid he'll beat my mother even worse for telling me about the abuse and "causing trouble." Or he may even come after me and my husband.
I'm at my wits end and don't think that there is anything I can do to help her...any advice would be welcomed.

my friend had his car repoed today i asked him was he paying his montly bill he saud yes except for the fact that he was a month late but a week ago he called the company where he got his car from to pay half of what was owed until he got paid. he doesnt have the receipt only the money order form what could he do?

I met my boyfriend in Los Angeles, but then I moved to Seattle 6 months ago. We have been dating a total of 10 months. He has visited a few times here, but it is hard to get him to commit to see me, even when I offer to go there. shes had it for 5 days, its just starting to go away, i dont have any symtoms.

i go to a catholic school, we are required to have laptops.
without my permission or acknowledgment they took my laptop and took it to be searched through.
i thought at first i had it stolen when i went to get my backpack too.
so is a private catholic school above the law so that they can steal my backpack and go through my private stuff without my consent? now they are even holding it hostage and are making my parents pick it up!!
