I have a 14yr old step daughter. She lives with her father and me. Just this year she stopped talking to me. She tells her mother everything and she tells us nothing. We ask her questions like do you have a boyfriend? She say's no and walks away to call her mom and tell her all about the boy's she like. She does this so I can hear her. I feel like she does this purposly to hurt me. She has always been a good kid with straight A's and almost alway's very respectful. She is not rude to me but it hurts my feeling that she won't talk to me. She gives one word answers basically saying "I have nothing to say to you" in a very sweet voice. Does that sound strange to anyone? or is it just me overreacting? Her father and I have told her a few times she can always come to us for anything and we will do our best to help. She say's "OK" (very sweetly of course) and never talks about anything with us. What should I do.

i wrote the bank a check then when i got home i realised not only had i written the rong amount but id actually written the wrong name on the check. but they processed it anyway. How can they do that? i put a stop on the check cos i know it wont clear but noone seems bothered that a bank can go ahead and process a check that isnt even made out to them
what gives?

paying for something at a cashier,rarely do i hear someone say thank you anymore. often, i find myself saying thank you, when they say there you go. then, i feel foolish as i leave the store or restaurant.

I'm 23 years old and currently living out of the country. I just found out that where I'm living will be charging me a rent (it was contracted to be free). Most of the time, I am at my boyfriend's anyways since my room doesn't have a kitchen, i can't have guests, the bathroom facilities are in the hall etc.
I want to leave where I'm living now and move in with my boyfriend. (The rent I would be paying for my room is about equivalent to half of my boyfriend's rent). I'm afraid afraid afraid to tell my very conservative, Catholic parents. I don't want to lie to them either. I'm very responsible, never gotten into trouble, have a job, and will one day marry my boyfriend (right now it's a question of money).
Therefore, if you were my parent, would you want to know the truth even if it hurt, or would you rather still think I'm "mommy/daddy's little girl"? (If you want the truth, how would you prefer I break it to you?)

Also does it suffer from some form of root rot possibly?

There was a bunch of these planted in a row which died. Trying to find out if there is something in the soil which caused it or what.

Why moan and say that the "rich" guy should pay more and taxes and you should get more in handouts?

What is the probability of getting a "blackjack" hand (21) from drawing the first two cards from a fair deck?

*Assume no jokers (52 cards per deck).
*Assume randomly shuffled.

I usually throw in my own assumption of how to go about figuring the question out, and often put my own guess as to the answer, then ask you to check it...but I'm really not sure how to approach this, as the probabilities seem to "overlap" or however it's worded...

Please don't just give the answer. I want to see the rationale behind it.
