appreciated the comments about keeping our cats in the house and safe on 5th november, but unfortunately, due to some inconsiderate sellers, the fireworks have started going off here already!!! not easy to keep the cats in for a fortnight without distressing them....

Okay, my class is now doing arc lengths and the hardest part of it is taking the integral of a function in the square root. Any function inside the square root with a polynomial greater than 1 is something that cant be done. The only trick i found so far is trying to factor it.

Like one example is taking the integral of say.....

sqrt ((x^2+4x+4)

What i did was change the function and make it look like this....

sqrt ((x + 2)^2)

^^^^ that one is the same as sqrt ((x^2+4x+4)

So the square root and the square cancels out and I just take the integral of (x + 2) instead.

But now, what if you cant do that anymore? If you cant solve it like that anymore?

Is there a way to taking integrals of a function inside a square root? Like say the integral of the square root of (sinx e^x)

How do you do that?

Hi I'm Italian and I'd love to be able to speak Ebonics (American Black English). I know almost all the features of this dialect but there's something that ain't clear to me:
- I know that in Ebonics words like "for", "sure" and "before" are pronounced "fou", "shou" and "bi'fou", but why I've always heard saying "more" like "mo" (just without the "r", like English people do). Shouldn't it be "mou" (with the final u)?
- How do they pronounce "au"? For example, in words like "down", "town" and "now" they pronounce the "a" like the "a" in "cat", but why do they pronounce "abaat" for "about" and "aa" for "out" and "our"? Is there a rule in these cases?

ok...theres a spanish song sung by a little kid and its about how he was aborted. It goes like this:

"Mami en el cielo estoy muy cerca de dios y otros niños
Que tambien al paraiso llevaron sus pecados por no haber nacido"

and then the chorus goes:
"Si papa y mama no se llevan muy bien
