It would be a very foolish thing to do. A few years ago, Islamic terrorists captured a Catholic Bishop in Iraq; within hours of his capture, Muslims were protesting like crazy; his captures immediately released him.
Catholics may well be the best friends of true Muslims.
If St. Peters is bombed by terrorists, the Catholics may not hit back but other groups will use this as an excuse to wage war.

There are idiots out there (including at least one presidential candidate) who would say we should bomb Mecca. That's wouldn't accomplish anything and would only make matters worse. We (meaning the world community, in particular the Italians) should retaliate against any country that gave direct support to the terrorists.

A very good question. If this were to happen, I believe the Islamic countries would rally and join with all of Christendom to put to death these extremists! Otherwise, all of Christendom would wage war on Islam!

I for one wouldn't feel too sad for the loss of the Pope or the damage done to the Catholic organization. Considering all the evil they did to my Christian forebears I would consider it just desserts. I know, I know, it's not the most *(Christian* attitude to have....I ain't perfect.
