Pattipan squash are either white or yellow. You start growing pattipans and find out that if you want to get white pattipans then at least one of the parents must be white. Which color is dominant?

It sounds ridiculous, but I am writing about this and I would like to learn if this is possible. Thanks. I know that most fruit trees need special soil to be grown (which means sand is not suitable for them), but I want to know if there is at least one fruit tree or anything that can make organic products that can pass as food when grown in sand.

Okay, so i just bought 3 lb package of Scotts Select Plant Food: All Purpose. It's NPK value is 10-10-10. I need to seperate each kind of pellet that is in it. On the "ingredient" list of chemicals on the back, Nitrogen is Ammoniacal and Urea Nitrogen; Phosphorus is Available Phosphate; Potassium is Soluble Potash. There are 3 different colored pellets in the fertilizer. One kind is white (I believe this is the nitrogen), one kind looks like a rock and is dark/light greyish, and the last kind is rock-like and seems to be peach-pinkish. If anyone can enlighten me as to which pellet is which nutrient, I would be very thankful!

In some tsunami shows that have been on TV recently, they have shown and mentioned that the Palm Trees where still standing.

I don’t understand why or how?
1. Palm trees have a relatively shallow root system, hence not much support
2. They are growing close to the coast so the soils are sandy and weaker
3. A tsunami is not something a tree could grow/evolve to withstand (like a cyclone) because they are very very rare.

Please, someone who knows , tell me the difference between corn and maize and please provide sources -

I ask because my daughter and I have corn allergies- in looking for corn free products I have found things things labled 'corn free' but maize is listed in the ingredients -

I have had popcorn and corn starch and had reactions but have had somethingm ade with maso meal and had no problem.

This is evidence that maize is easier to digest, break down than corn thus they are not the same thing

any help with specifics will be greatly appreciated

Hi, I am taking my second science in college this coming semester and I am signed up for general botany. All that I know about the subject going into the course is that it is about plants. Any input would be helpful so I will know what to expect (please do not leave retarded answers that has nothing to do with the question or you will be reported). Thanks in advance!!!

Which would be better for improving the air quality in my room: an electronic air cleaner/filter/environizer/purifier/ , or a capable plant? Various manufacturers claim the air filters can greatly remove dust, pollen, pet dander, and so on. However, various botanists claim that the best plants can also purify the air quite well, while also providing extra oxygen when the plants are exposed to sunlight (and, also, that the oxygen plants consume when not photosynthesizing is relatively very little). I am interested in improving air quality in my room, and appreciate any input on what is best.

Note that I have no respiratory conditions, aside from mild seasonal allergies. The room size is roughly 10' by 17'. The room's double-window faces West, so sunlight shouldn't be a problem. If other details are required for this question, please let me know.
