There's lots of kinds of reptile lights, but if you mean one of the UVB lights (fluorescent or compact fluorescent), yes it should.

The incandescent Day-Glo lights - the one that has the same shape as a light bulb for your house - I wouldn't expect to grow plants as well. But that could make a good research project for you!
