example 1 : If someone is on a school bus travelling at 60 MPH, and then she gets up and walks forward, her speed is 1 MPH, how do you record the speed of the person?

Is her speed 60 mph, 61 mph or should you list it at both velocities : 60 mph + 1 mph.

My thought on this is that speed is relative. Someone on the bus observes her travelling at 1 mph, but someone off the bus observes her at 61 mph (I'm assuming). To account for this you record the speed at 60 +1 mph so that someone looking at the record sees there are two different velocities.

Second example: Someone is travelling in a car and fires a gun that is perfectly perpendicular to their forward direction.

Not accounting for any wind resistance, will the bullet continue to move in the direction of the car?

My guess is that bullets leaving this moving object would form a diagonal (triangle with direction of car, intended direction of bullet and actual direction of bullet. Thoughts from physics students?

Wealthy old lady decides to go on a photo safari in Africa, taking her faithful, elderly poodle named Cuddles, along for the company. One day the old poodle starts chasing butterflies and before long, Cuddles discovers that he's lost. Wandering about, he notices a leopard heading rapidly in his direction with the intention of having lunch. The old poodle thinks, "Oh, oh! I'm in deep doo-doo now!" Noticing some bones on the ground close by, he immediately settles down to chew on the bones with his back to the approaching cat. Just as the leopard is about to leap the old poodle exclaims loudly, "Boy, that was one delicious leopard! I wonder if there are any more around here?" Hearing this, the young leopard halts his attack in mid-strike, a look of terror comes over him and he slinks away into the trees. "Whew!", says the leopard, "That was close! That old poodle nearly had me!"

As those who have read my previous question know, I think those of us who are told we'll be going to hell just don't celebrate the distinction enough (see my previous question for the details).

I was think the Tea Party should be an all-day event (so that those on all sides of the planet can participate).

Perhaps questions could be marked with an "HH" (Hell in a Handbasket) or simply "Basketeers" followed by an appropriate question.

No pressure (we all get enough of that, don't we?). Just lots of fun and merriment.

Anyone care to make additional suggestions?

I love cats, but I have an allergic reaction to them. I get hayfeverish, my eyes go puffy and water, my nose runs, and my skin gets itchy and red. I have tried most over-the-counter hayfever/allergy products, however they don't seem to work very well for me. My question is, does anyone know of any other solution, or a prescription product my doctor might be able to prescribe, so that I can spend more time with my precious feline?

My friend has a dog (golden retriever) tied up to a tree and they never let it go! They give it a pile of food every morning and a some water. Then they ignore it and never do anything with it! Ex) Never takes it on walks-never plays fetch! Just tied up to a tree the whole day! This is their second dog in 3 years! Their first dog died when it was 2 years old(they did the same thing to that dog) This dog has also gotten aggresive (It wasn't aggresive before they tied it up) I feel bad for the dog!

I was asked one time by a friend, "Would you choose a person who is fairly good looking but had alot of money... Or, would you choose one who was ok in looks with not much money at all, but could make you smile and laugh?" I said, "I would choose the second choice.

Which would you choose and why?

Sincerely, Shelia M.

signs i noticed about myself
1.) i could feel so confident about myself and then in like an hour, i complain about myself and wonder why i turned out the way i am, and then i think abt suicide
2.) i could be "depressed" for like a week, go to bed around 7 (I go to bed at 10), stay in my room throughout the day, and eat less, then after a week, i laugh about myself and wonder why i was even "depressed" in the first place
3.) I could laugh at everything and smile and be happy to be at home with the family, but then after 15 min. somethign will hit me and ill leave the room to go to my room becasue i start to think i should be out and then i get moody and ill stay like that for a while
4.) for no reason at all i could be having so much fun but then ill get mad or moody for nothing and then in like half an hour or something im all happy again

i just change moods real fast, and i hate that about myself. it may even just be depression. by the way im 15

I'll be 40 weeks tomorrow. Last night I was having TONS of Braxton Hicks. Normally I just get a few during the day while at work but from 4pm on last night my stomach felt like a python was wrapped around it. I wasn't crampy but my lower back was hurting (not crampy just - hurting). I had some major pressure in my pelvis too. I was timing these BH contractions and they were 3 minutes apart. They eased off during the night and I'm still having some this morning. Do you think my body is gearing up for real labor maybe?? I'm just so scared I'll have to be induced, so I''m really hoping my body is getting ready to do it own its own.

I had my membranes stripped 2 days ago - I didn't even cramp afterward.

What's your opinion? I know every labor is different, I'm just hoping to go natural.

THANKS!!!!

Why not just tell them to wait until they are emotionally and financially capable of dealing with the possible consequences of sex? Why does the message have to insist kids wait until marriage, which obviously isn't even an option for gay teens? To me, it's obviously a religiously driven aspect. What I'm really wondering is, don't you think a message of abstinence focusing on how it's a sure-fire way of avoiding (most) STDs and pregnancy would reach more kids than saying you're worth less (or worthless) if you don't wait until marriage?

The following article was in the NY Times this morning and the example at the bottom of page 1 is especially interesting:
http://www.nytimes.com/2007/07/18/education/18abstain.html?_r=1&pagewanted=2&th&emc=th&oref=slogin
I'm just wondering why marriage has to be the point at which abstinence ends - why not just pointing out that, if you can't handle the consequences, you shouldn't be having sex.
