I think they feel we are some kind of freaks, because their parents, grandparents, or whoever, taught them that us homosexuals are freaks, guess what they are wrong.

No, most of them forbid it.
But there are a lots of straight gay-activists.
Unfortunately, the activists do not include anyone working for the government or any religious group. So they aren't the "powerful" ones. We need to see the split between church and state grow larger here in the U.S. if we want gay marriage "allowed".

EDIT: The sanctity of marriage is gone. Knowing that makes me feel better, even though love is love and the definition of marriage definitely includes love. Over half of heteros can't even have a stable marriage without divorce. So I don't see why they don't allow gay marriage... but what is marriage anymore? If you love your partner, who cares? It's something you share and if a bigot refuses to recognize it who cares. I;'m just trying to pull the positive out of NOT having gay marriage, which i do want, which seems like it's a big contradiction.

interior the unique blue regulations for the Colony of latest Haven (what became Connecticut) drawn up in 1665 it states: "No gospel Minister shall connect human beings in marriage; the magistrates in basic terms shall connect in marriage, as they might do it with much less scandal to Christ's Church." Now the blue regulations have been comprised with the aid of Gov. Theophilus Eaton by the Rev. John Cotton. faith even then found out that marriage became right into a criminal state and not inevitably a non secular one. Connecticut realizes to no longer grant marriage to all is discrimination that's why we are between the few states the place comparable intercourse marriage is criminal.

I know what you are talking about....My partner and I had a talk about this last night...he is not going to see that movie, but I feel that I need to at least see it in order to know if there is something trully offensive.

As far as regular hetros...I think many just don't understand. They can't see that two people can love each other without having to be a ''set''. It's a silly concept. Love is love.

Beachy - you obviously are not religious, so where do you get your ''morality''?

Not that you have to be religious to have morals.....that isn't the question.

They think its an an 'extra privilege', since when was committing to the one you love and being seen as a couple in the eyes of the law a privilege that only Hetro's are allowed?

Actually a lot of straights are in favor gay marriage, it's just that we hear a lot from those who call it immoral since they often have a lot of power.

I assume you comment on that movie. In which it's a plot line, it's the catalyst for the humour.

It's stupid, but I wouldn't say offensive. And I would doubt they'd treat it as funny, but rather it's a plot device.

In other words they're not making fun of gay marriage the way I understand it, they're just using it to build to other humour.

hmm...good question. on one hand, to make light of gay marriage is to diminish it's importance. if you don't take something seriously, then it really doesn't affect you. on the other hand, by making light of gay marriage, you also make light of those who would oppose it. after all, only a complete moron would waste his time and energy on something that isn't important (see above). humor is a great way of confronting very uncomfortable issues in an indirect way. I guess the intent is only known by the person making the joke.

No. No one cares who gets married to whom. Gays can marry, they do, and even Disney has special packages if you want to marry there. No one will ever stop you.
