I am new to ice skating and I am starting lessons very soon. I can skate forwards, forward crossovers, and forward and backwards swizzles and wiggles. I go to the arena every day for about 25 minutes. What are some new things for me to practice that isn't too hard for a beginner. Tips on how to do it and links would be appreciated! Thanks!

Oddly, if I can tolerate the pain long enough it passes, but it is so unbearable that I can rarely make it through the pain period. I like skating BUT...!

I go ice skating with my friends about 1 or 2 times a week. Two of my friends have ice skates of their own. Should i get them? The cost of rental ice skates are 6$ i think.

I turn 18 in 3 weeks and even though I live so far away from a rink I would love to take up ice skating. I plan on moving away from home early next year (2009!) and think that even at 19 years I could take it up and compete at an amatuer level. Thoughts?

I just got my first pair of figure skates and I'm working on breaking them in. One of my friends who's been figure skating for a while recomended using bunga pads, but they are pretty expensive in the pro shop. Does any one know where they sell them for less and does any one else use them?

Last night i had my lesson with my coach. Its not like i wasn't trying, i was. Nothing was working for me in jumps or spins, my coach said she has seen me do the spin alot better. The spirals and footwork steps where okay. Its the 1st time i have had my lesson on that day, and the 1st time i have been to the session it was in, will it just be a case of getting used to going then insted of when it was. Is it just me who gets skates like this in thier lessons? (Bad days) i feel really bad about it.

I am 14 years old and I love figure skating. I watch it when ever it is on tv and know so much about it. I really want to start figure skating lessons but is it too late too? I'm flexiable and would work really hard but most people start when they are young. I'm not sure if I want to compete or anything. I will probabley just skate for fun. Is it too late for me to start figure skating?

my parents are not the most supportive. i want to practice more and dedicate more time to figure skating, but my parents don't want me to.

They don't understand much about figure skating. Its not like they don't let me, but they don't care much for it... and they use guilt and say, "we have done so much for you, brought you to the rink, etc. the least you can do is... " (and then they don't let me practice) Also, they think that school is more important... but they honestly don't need to worry about that because they know that i know that school is important and i do get good grades. They say, "we have to go to work everyday. how can we find time to drive you to the ice rink??..."
But i work hard in school and at home too. Sometimes I stay up later than them working. I wake up early in the morning to study and do more work. But i can and i do find time that i can use to skate, but the problem is, they don't let me use it.

HELPPPPP!!!!!! What do i do???

do anyone have any idea on whice boot besides columbia brands is good in icey condtions? i recently bought a pair, of the columbia brand , they are good but in snowy conditions, as i fell and hurt my self in the icey condtions, seems they have know traction on ice.. i live in a apartment complex and the maintance men did not put down salt that day it was more ice than snow, so i figured wearing my boots would aid in the traction, but it did not i fell flat on my behind, so if anyone have any boot brand suggestions i will be glad t have them, thanks..

ok, this is for me and for my best friend,
we both need help on the beilmann. The one thing different is that ME(skittles) does it with my left foot in the air but i am right handed. i am stronger on that foot. Then My other friend is right handed and does it with her right foot up. Is there any possible streaches that we both could do.
we both can do the splits (left foot in front Right in back)! I (skittles) can go into the splits and stay there with my nose touching my knee.Is that all i need to do,.
MY friend has great postion but needs help on bringing it up higher. She leads back like a Layback postion. Plz Plz help
thanks so much!!!
~SKITTLES~ and my friend
sorry that this is so long.

I'm going to start ice skating this winter, and I was wondering if I should take private or group lessons. I really want to move quickly and I don't know if I will be able to do that if I'm skating with 7 year olds. Also, sometimes when I'm in groups learning things I get frustrated easier, and I definitely don't want to risk wanting to quit because I'm frustrated.
People having been telling me not to take private lessons right away because you're just learning the basics. I just don't think I'd be as excited to learn if I was with little kids. Does taking private lessons help you learn the basics faster (I would take 30 min. private lessons)? I can skate forward pretty steadily at a medium pace, but that's about it.
I can't take both, my parents say I have to choose between the two. So which would you choose and why?

How come whenever I ice skate my feet always lean in towards the middle? When I try to skate with my feet flat, it feels like I'm standing on the outside sides of my feet. Is there anyway to help me with this and does anyone else have this problem?
