i can't really thro myslef into the air. I got myslef caught on my video camera and i do't really jump up. My freeleg swings around and not up. What should i do???

i practice it off ice 5 times a day, but it is tottaly different form on ice.

also with the axel prep.is what i have done is toattlay different form an real axel. like doing an waltz, loop backspin. There you have time to do each but in a reall axel you don't have time. all you have is too jump high and twist. If anybody know what i am talking about you will understand why i need tips.

you might be spinning on the ice before you take off. just think of doing an over-rotated waltz jump that is really high. the waltz-loop-backspin combination also helps in getting the axel. just remember to always jump as far away from where you already are.

ask your coach if you can try it on the harness it really gives you the feeling of what it is like and stuff without falling. Make sure when you take off you bring your knee up really high and when you take off it makes like a nike swish sign in the ice. also just practice jumping really high without crossing your legs.

Make sure that when you go into the jump that you have plenty of knee bend so you can spring yourself into the air. Use your free leg to help bring yourself up into the air. I would also suggest practicing off of the ice. Good luck

Practise of ice, or of a trampette (Mini trampoline) Dont be affraid, make sure you keep your knee high and really pull it when your in the air strighten our legs in the right postion. Dont think of it asgoing across think of going up and spinning. I am olny working on loop so sorry if this is no help.

I agree with you that it feels totally different. What helped me with this jump when I learned it was to forget about everything and just think of kicking someone hard in the face. I hope I helped you, Hannah!

when i am *attempting* an Axel (it sound weird but,) i think of the skaters i see on the TV & i think about how they set themselves up for a jump.
