I love cats, but I have an allergic reaction to them. I get hayfeverish, my eyes go puffy and water, my nose runs, and my skin gets itchy and red. I have tried most over-the-counter hayfever/allergy products, however they don't seem to work very well for me. My question is, does anyone know of any other solution, or a prescription product my doctor might be able to prescribe, so that I can spend more time with my precious feline?

Oh dear, that is icky.

Yes, if the over-the-counter meds aren't working, then a visit to an allergist for a shot or prescription is in order.

Meanwhile, you or a family member can try brushing your kitties more often, and vacuuming and dusting more to get rid of the cat fur and dander.

Good luck!

I have the same problem. After suffering for years I finally went to my regular doctor and he gave me a shot. It's not like the alergy shots people have to get and keep getting often. It's a one time steroid shot. It lasts about three months. It started working immediately. I could breathe. And I could play with my cat. By the time it wore off it was winter and I was ok. I got another steroid shot a couple of years later. That time it only worked for two months. But hey, two months is better than nothing. I don't think I wil get another one anytime soon. Maybe in another couple of years. After all, it is STEROIDS. I don't want to over do it.

I use to be allergic to everything so I know how you feel, your doctor will be able to help you, you will need to go to a specialist, he may prescribe something or you may get shots weekly to monthly.
I'm still allergic to cats, I get really sick, just like you but my throat swells and I can't breath.

i have cat allergies to... maybe it is the fur that you are allergic to you should probably get the type of cat that doesn't have any fur...or you should find a love for other animals like a hamster or Winnipeg... i know it will not be the same but at least try it.

My daughters fiancee is the same as you .When he comes to our house ,regardless of if the cats are outside .He comes up in a rash and his eyes itch and stream .The only thing that works for him is Piriton tablets (antihistamine)
