Linguists have noted that when we talk about whole groups of people (liberals or conservatives) as if they are enemies whose views or selves need to be destroyed, we are talking in 'authoritarian' language, not democratic?

If we talk about people as though they have the right to have differences, we are speaking democratic language. Democratic thinking is to argue about values but to realize that other people's views are legitimate and must be tolerated in order to maintain a democracy.

I've got a school project and we have to do a multiple regression and write a paper about our findings. Everyone in the class seems to be doing football so I want to be unique. I'd like to stay away from sports but I also must have a topic that has a lot of information available. Any suggestions on a non-sports topic?

Apparently, the 'American' accent is technically the neutral pronunciations, meaning the easiest way to pronounce the words with the mouth. I can't immagine that english developed straight into having akward British pronounciations without being refined from something easier that would develop more naturally. So, was there a period when the neutral accent was dominant, and a transition to the British accent as people became more educated and aristocratic? Is the neutral accent used anywhere within the UK today (other than in American Embassies)?

I haven't noticed it but I always think that Im best than everyone else.. I have empathy for other people and I love to help others but sometimes I think Im the best or at least I try really hard. I also believe that I am v ery smart and I constantly put down my boyfriend just to feel superior and it happens with everybvody even if I dont want to. I also think that I have an extraordinary ability for things and that no one can be better...like at art or reading etc... or college. All of this has bugged me for a long time but I always thought I was the nicest girl on earth now I am starting to think that I give myself too much credit! what can I do?....at work, at school, with my family, my friends etc.. I think I am the best... but I don't want them to hate me for that...

A good parent spends TIME raising his/her kids, right? So why does the LDS church work so hard to rob parents (and children!) of time together?

Meetings, conferences, firesides, youth activities, adult activities, callings, roadshows?

Enough! It's hypocritical!

I'm about 67% sure it's Jonathan Brandis, but all I can remember is a mom bringing her kid back from the dead and seeing a scene where he's kneeling at the front door in the rain. They play "hide and seek" or something, and it's just really creepy. It might not be him because I looked at his IMDB profile and couldn't see any movie that sounded like what I'm thinking of. This has literally been bothering me for years.

This is very strange.. when I was in a doubt that my friend was using me or not.. I have sent posts here and mostly people told me to move on and that she is a user. Now when I realised in a direct way from her that she is using me, I am getting all the answers that says I am wrong and I should talk to her.

Let me say, talking about a problem is not that easy. How can I tell my friend that " I feel ur using me but still I am being there for u bcoz I like to be used by u" I can tell that to her, right?
I feel the best thing is to move on, it will hurt me alot but I just cant be there knowing that I am just an available option to her, she contacts me only when she is bored or needs me.
Today she said when she had nothing to do she thought to call me but then she find something so she didnt call me though she said in a casual way but I felt bad and even I felt for a moment she realised that she came across as user.
I want to avoid her completely, I dont wnt to talk abt the prob.
