In what way does it help the spouse to learn of their spouses infidelity?

It seems that the sole purpose of the confession syndrome is to make the guilty party feel better about what they've done and makes the innocent spouse feel crappy for no good reason.

I wouldn't want to learn that my spouse had been cheating on me; I would just want her to stop and not do it again.

There is an Urdu shayari (couplet) which only Indians and Pakistanis will understand:
Saamane Jo Hai Usey Log Bura Kehte Hain,
Jo Dikhaayee Nahee Deta Usko Khudaa Kehte Hain.

It's OK if you don't understand this couplet. You can still answer my question... it's for the entire humanity.
God, whom we have never seen... is praised & prayed by almost all of us but those who are visible to us... our friends, relatives, neighbours, poor people, our own parents & children... sometimes get a very bad treatment. I don't claim that I am clean; even I do it sometimes and then repent. But there is no point crying over spilt milk. Can we do something about this together? As a community?

Here is something that people don't here much about, if anything. Anyone know anything interesting about this branch of JSOC (something we couldn't learn on wikipedia)? From what I've gathered this group sounds like the real-life Jack Bauers. I wish Mark Bowden would publish a book about these guys and expose them like he did SOFD-D...then I wouldn't have to be asking these questions!
