There are a few grunge bands still around, mostly they subside in garages. My guess as to why the whole grunge thing didn’t last is people couldn't stand the stench anymore. But basically after Cobain died the grunge era died too, in a musical aspect. Not too much “grunge” came after Nirvana. Music went mad and ventured off in millions of directions.

in the panorama of the grunge music I truly love the alice in chains that still remain one of my favourites bands. I also enjoyed the stone temple pilots, nirvana, some of soundgarden and the early pearl jam but I think that grunge movement had not a long life and it's dead.
I can also mention the mother love bone that opened the way to the grunge movement.

There will never be another band like A.I.C. Jerry Cantrell is trying so hard to keep the music of A.I.C. together but it's just not the same without Layne. I miss him, 4ever.

I was never a big fan. I thought most of the music was depressing, plus I hated how almost every singer sounded like an Eddie Veddor clone.....although I did like some individual songs.
