I've heard of people agreeing to teach on (for example) an army base for say two years, and the government forgives their student loans. Does anyone have any info on this?

Hi, my name is Taeja and I'm a 16 year old Junior. Recently I have been accepted into the People to People Study Abroad Program. Everything sounded good, I'm ready to go and explore the British Isles next summer. One problem I'm having a hard time coming up with $6,029 for my tution. I have tried everything, but it seems like there's no hope. I'm trying to look on the better side because if its meant for me to go I will come up with the money. The first thing I did was wrote letters to important peoples, and grant programs, and even scholarship programs. Everybody wrote back saying sorry we can't help you or thanks for writing but we are a nonprofitable organization. So that's just one setback. I seriously want to go, this could be one trip that could change my life, and widen my horizon beyond this small town that I reside in. Can anybody help me or give me ideas, I would very much appreciate.

Its so annoying. When I told them about getting student loans so I could pay it off myself, they say that I can't get anything unless they cosign. They think that they have to pay of the loans in the end... is that true? I am so confused about all this.

Which one is going to be most economical financially. The private college is much smaller classes and a shorter commute. The other one is a longer drive and the classes are much larger.

I'm in a real mess, I have a BS degree in psychology and live in a large city, but can get no job that pays anything with a BS degree so I live paycheck to paycheck and have gotten in to a large debt with credit cards, over 22,000 $ and that isn't even school loans, I am 32 years old and single with no children, is there any way I can go back to school to get a degree to make a living with scholorships or free money, since I already have a degree, I got no help before due to living with my parents and the state considers their income since I was just out of highschool, I would like to go into nursing, I can't tell my parents of this debt, they have already sacraficed to send me to school in the 1st place and still have parent plus loans to pay, I make 20,000 a year now, I don't know where to turn, I know I need a job to pay for my expenses and this degree just doesn't pay anywhere I've checked, could someone please help me and tell me how to get out of this mess I've got myself in!!!

What would an individual have to do if, say, they obtained a bachelor's degree, spent like 10 years doing something else and then realized that they want to pursue a different UNDERGRADUATE degree? More importantly, they don't have the $ to fund it and the state/gov. doesn't give out loans for people's 2nd degree....
what are this person's options?

I’m going to this program in California next year, which is a Continuing Ed program for translating/interpreting. It’s a non-credit Certificate program that lasts about 2 ½ years. Many people tell me I can’t get financial aid because with this program, I’m not going to be a matriculated student. But I wonder why on the FAFSA, it asks a question about Continuing Ed?

k. I do not know what I want to do with my future. I m currently senior in high school. I know my major. I am planning to go for either biology or biochem. But I do not know what school to go for. I have applied to certain colleges like UIC and NIU. I also got in all of them. But I dont knw if i should go for it or not. I know for sure that community college like harper is going to give me full free ride for 2 yrs. But my question is should I let go of this 2 free years of college and go for university,
especially when I am planning to go for medicine (which is like 12 years of college)?

I also had questions for scholarships. I have been applying to few of them, but is there anyway I can get full scholarships in university? My GPA and ACT scores are pretty good. I have heard many people have gotten full scholarship. How do I get that? Where and how do I apply? I am new to this whole scholarship thing. I would really appreciate if someone can help.....
