Fastweb.com is arguably the most popular free national scholarship search site. This site (and other free search sites like it) give users free access in exchange for gathering information about you and selling it to their affiliates who are looking to target market to the high school and college students (such as student loan companies, the colleges themselves, etc.)
I would recommend you set up a separate e-mail address through Yahoo just for this site and others like it that you plan on using. Once you sign up you will start getting LOTS of spam and offers.
To its credit, Fastweb has a large scholarship database that, if you're willing to invest the time to scour through your results, you should be able to identify scholarships that would be a good match for you.
Keep in mind, though, that your best chances to win private scholarship awards will be at the local and regional level where there is less competition. Check your school's counseling office, financial aid office and your local library. Good luck!

it is not a scam. I've signed up for it too. I've been signed to it for the last 6 years. It does give you information about scholarships. The only down side is, a lot of the scholarships are more like contests. You write an essay about your favorite pet or submit an artwork.

No i used fastweb when I was school, granted I never won anything (but that was more out of laziness than anything), but it does have a heck of a lot of info about scholarships. It brings a lot of info altogether on one site.

it's not a scam, it's completely free. the only thing is, is that you are competing against millions of others so the competition is fierce. there is also an article I found to be dedicated to financial aid just in case you need any other info...http://prepme4college.blogspot.com
