Hi, my name is Taeja and I'm a 16 year old Junior. Recently I have been accepted into the People to People Study Abroad Program. Everything sounded good, I'm ready to go and explore the British Isles next summer. One problem I'm having a hard time coming up with $6,029 for my tution. I have tried everything, but it seems like there's no hope. I'm trying to look on the better side because if its meant for me to go I will come up with the money. The first thing I did was wrote letters to important peoples, and grant programs, and even scholarship programs. Everybody wrote back saying sorry we can't help you or thanks for writing but we are a nonprofitable organization. So that's just one setback. I seriously want to go, this could be one trip that could change my life, and widen my horizon beyond this small town that I reside in. Can anybody help me or give me ideas, I would very much appreciate.

You have been asking nonprofit organizations for help, and not having any luck. How about trying to send the same letter asking for sponsorship to for profit companies? Many companies these days do some form of charitable giving, usually described in the 'corporate social responsibility" policy. You can look at big company websites to see if the sponsor any youth programs which might be applicable. Also, you migh want to contact the People to People organization and see if they can recommend anything in terms of fundraising - companies that they know have sponsored other participants, etc. Finally you might want to see if you can get a few friends together and do something like a fundraising car wash, bake sale, etc., to help you raise the money locally. Good luck!!!

Go to your local fire dept and see if they would let you host a dinner to help raise money . Heres some other ideas:
Chinese Auctions- go and ask local stores if they would donate .
Bottle and Can Drive .
hope that helps !!
