I currently a freshman day-student at undoubtedly one of the best boarding schools in the entire country. Most recently, my home life has become unstable and I believe it's necessary to begin boarding. I work extremely hard for my grades and my gpa is a 3.7, i take three honors courses and my passion is truely learning. My parents are refusing to pay for my boarding tuition and I need to take matters into my own hands and find myself a scholarship that will cover my tuition as a boarder. Can anyone reccommend any sites/scholarships/ideas? It might help that I play three sports and belong to numerous clubs? thanks

I have about 25k in student loans that I have accumulated over the years. In my state they will repay your loans if you are a teacher, social worker, and police officer, and nurse. I am a semester away from getting my bachelors in psychology, but wanting to get a masters in social work. My question is should I start repaying my loans now, or should I wait until after I graduate? I want to start a fund for my son school, and want to know what is the best one to do or a mutual fund?

can i change my anticipated graduation date on my current private student loan if i transfer from my current 2-year community college to a 4-year college?

can my student loan even be transfered to another college?

my student loan isn't federal but private, so i don't think it's necessary to inform the school's financial aid office about the matter. is that right?

In my other question they responded "just goto college". Well thats easy for them because there parents could afford it. Even at a small community college I cant get enough financial aid to pay, and the university in my town won't accept financial aid and everyone there is a total snob.

I finish with my degree in April, I am suppose to get a pell dispursment of 1700 in NOV and then one in march. Instead of giving me my pell this month they took it and paid for the rest of my classes and are going to give me everything left over in march. Can they do this? i thought pell went directly to me, not to pay for the classes themselves, thats what my student loans are for. my computer is breaking down and I was looking at this money to get me a new one.

I want to take a semester off of school. I've been going to college now for 5 1/2 years. I feel so burned out and drained. I am also worried because I get off my parents insurance in 2008 in May. I want to work and get my own insurance so that I'm not screwed over. What do you think is this a good or bad idea. I would work while I go to school but it's hard for me because I have a learning disability. Any suggestions for me?

my work offers tuition reimbursement of up to $5k per year. I would love to take advantage of this but my only hesitation is that if i quit, get laid off, or get fired within a year from the date that i was reimbursed, then I owe them anything they paid me for education within the year. I have no intentions of leaving and I don't feel I'd be let go anytime soon...

my fear is that if a better paying job or better opportunity came around and I took the new job if I left the company and have to pay back what I was reimbursed, financially that would set me back...

also would I have to pay it all back in one lump sum?? would i have to make payments? can they really do that to me?

I am 20 years old. My mother and father do not wish to share their tax return information for FAFSA. I am sure this is a requirement to receive aid so are there any alternative options? Someone said it's possible to become emancipated after you turn 18 for situations like this. Does anyone know where I might find information on doing that for the state of Texas?

I was accepted under the Early Decision agreement. When I looked at the financial package, I was disappointed. I expected more scholarships/grants. The loan is huge. My parents can't borrow that much money. (My loan is already loaded up to the max for a college freshman.) What should I do? I really want to attend that school. Is there any way to negotiate for a better package? Advice is appreciated. Thanks.

My 10 year old niece has been offered a 50% scholarship for September 2008's entry into independent school in England because of her outstanding talent and prospects as a sportsperson. She is the current National and British Champion gymnast at her discipline.

The problem is her Mum is a recipient of Income Support so can in no way afford the other 50%. Does anyone know of any Charities or organisations who might be able to help towards the other half of my niece's school fees please?
