My 10 year old niece has been offered a 50% scholarship for September 2008's entry into independent school in England because of her outstanding talent and prospects as a sportsperson. She is the current National and British Champion gymnast at her discipline.

The problem is her Mum is a recipient of Income Support so can in no way afford the other 50%. Does anyone know of any Charities or organisations who might be able to help towards the other half of my niece's school fees please?

If she got a full-time job (I think it's over 16 hours) she could be eligible for working tax credit and child tax credit. With the child tax credit, they also pay up to 80% of childcare costs, which include independent schooling too. Tell her to look into it, we get it and we're bringing in over £50k basic a year.

Have you approached the school direct about Bursaries?
